Cairo Pickup, Salt Lake, Cleopatra's Spring Siwa Budget-Friendly Tour Part 1 |

Making your travels smooth, it's <Travel Lubricant>.
Siwa: The Rising Star of Egyptian Travel Destinations!
It's brimming with captivating sights like salt lakes, oases, and deserts, but
It's a destination with a high barrier to entry, taking a whopping 13 hours by bus from Cairo.
Today, I'm excited to share my personal experience on a budget-friendly Siwa tour.
I've included everything, especially my review of a tour that was possible for around ~$292 for two people!

Conclusion |
1. What is Siwa?

Siwa is a fantastic city where stunning natural landscapes and ancient ruins blend harmoniously.
Recently, its popularity has surged even more thanks to Kwak Tube and Lee Jang-woo visiting in 'Earth Marble World Travel Season 3'!
The downside is that getting from Cairo to Siwa isn't easy.
That's why I researched various tour companies to find the best way to get there.
2. Siwa Tour Comparison
What I considered most important was:
① Whether transportation from Cairo to Siwa was included
② Tour inclusions & price
Category | Experience Siwa | Siwa Oasis (Mohamed) |
Transportation | Included | Included |
Accommodation | Included | Not Included |
Price | $210/person | $150/person |
Reviews | Many Korean reviews | No Korean reviews Mostly Chinese customers |
The most famous one was Experience Siwa, but
$210 per person felt a bit steep.
After diligently searching, even using English, I found
a budget-friendly tour for $290 for two people!
I was a little nervous because there were no Korean reviews,
but after experiencing it myself, all those worries completely vanished.
3. Tour Itinerary & Price
Here's the 2-night, 3-day Siwa tour itinerary!
DAY | ITINERARY |
Day 1 | 21:00 Depart from Cairo |
Day 2 | 06:00 Arrive in Siwa - Salt Lake - Cleopatra's Spring - Temple of Amun - Desert Tour |
Day 3 | Shali Fortress - Mountain of the Dead - Return to Cairo (Arrive 20:00) |

4. My Real Review
🚗Cairo -> Siwa Travel

Mohammed's friend 'Ali' picked us up in a Mitsubishi vehicle
The car was spacious and clean, and the air conditioning worked perfectly.
We stopped at a cafe for a break along the way,
and experienced about 5 checkpoints.
They checked our passports, so always make sure to carry your passport!
*Due to the nature of travel in Egypt, inspections occur when crossing regions.

🛏️Accommodation Check-in
We arrived at the accommodation at 6 AM!
Since we couldn't contact them in advance, we waited for about an hour until a staff member arrived.
Luckily, a room was available, so we were able to check in right away.
I was truly impressed by the mysterious building, quiet and comfortable, with a mix of European flair!
It's known as an accommodation with great value for money in Siwa,
so it was tough to get a reservation!

🧂Salt Lake
We greeted Mohammed, who came to pick us up in a tuk-tuk in front of our accommodation, and officially began our tour!

Our first stop was the amazing Salt Lake, where your body effortlessly floats.
Each lake had a slightly different water color, so Mohammed guided us to several spots perfect for taking photos.

Mohammed was great, but it was a bit of a shame he wasn't very good at taking pictures haha

🏝️Cleopatra's Spring
We visited Cleopatra's Spring to rinse off our bodies, which were covered in salt!
To take a shower, you need to order a drink.
*Not included in the tour fee

The shower room was integrated with the toilet, so it was a bit... dirty, but there was no choice but to use it to wash off the salt.
It seemed like it would have been better to just rinse off in the spring and then return to the accommodation for a proper shower.

It's a circular natural spring with bubbles rising to the surface,
and it's truly amazing where the water keeps coming from.
The water is very deep, so if you can't swim, bring a swim tube!
5. Wrapping Up

As I was writing, it became quite long,
so I'll be back with Part 2, starting from the afternoon itinerary of Day 2.
In Part 2, I'll be introducing desert tours, historical site tours, and more,
so if you're curious, follow along and get updates!
