Silk River Hoi An Review 2026: Boutique Stay Near Old Town
Looking for the perfect escape in Vietnam? Discover why Silk River Hoi An Retreat is our favorite boutique hotel for an authentic, peaceful stay.
For my trip to Da Nang, I knew I absolutely had to visit Hoi An and actually spend some nights there! So, I ended up booking a 3-night stay.
Out of all the places I stayed, there was one spot where the amenities—from the hotel vibes to the pool and breakfast—totally stole my heart. It's called 'Silk River Hoi An Retreat.'

Silk River Hoi An Location

Silk River Hoi An is located about 2 km (around 1.2 miles) away from the Old Town and the Night Market. It's a bit too far to walk comfortably, so you'll want to hop on one of the complimentary bicycles provided by the resort or grab a quick taxi. Having stayed right near the Old Town before, I actually prefer being slightly set back. For a similar price point, the room quality here is on a whole different level!

Once you leave Hoi An Old Town behind, peaceful countryside lanes open up before you. Even though the weather was quite warm, the sky was filled with gorgeous clouds, and I loved catching glimpses of local life—people renting out boats or selling handmade crafts along the Thu Bon River.
Checking In

At over 80% of the accommodations in Da Nang and Hoi An, the staff will literally run out to greet you with a warm smile before you even pull your suitcase through the door. They take care of all your luggage, offering the kind of hospitality that's hard to find in many other travel destinations.

After sipping on a refreshing welcome drink and waiting for about five minutes, I was handed my room key. While many hotels back home have earlier checkout times like 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM, Vietnam often gives you until 12:00 PM. Since the midday heat can be intense, I made sure to relax in the comfort of the resort right up until checkout!
The Room

Room 101! I stayed in a room located right in front of the reception desk. It's the perfect size for two people, but also incredibly comfortable and cozy if you're traveling solo like me.

I actually loved that it opened up right to the pool area. I kept the curtains closed at night for privacy, but during the morning and afternoon, I left them wide open to let the bright sunshine flood in.

The room comes with two complimentary bottles of water, coffee, and tea. Plus, room service is available with a full menu of various dishes, desserts, and drinks!

Since there weren't many dining options right outside the resort, requiring at least a 10-minute walk, room service was a lifesaver. The prices are incredibly reasonable, so don't hesitate to give it a try!

The bathroom is simple, clean, and straightforward. It's super convenient to jump straight into the shower right after a swim, and since the pool is just steps away, you don't even need to worry about throwing on a cover-up.

They say the design was inspired by Santorini, Greece (can you see it?). The pool layout is quite unique! Hearing the faint sounds of people laughing and splashing actually added to the lively, vacation atmosphere. Let me show you a comparison photo of a pool at another hotel to give you a better idea.

This photo is from the Mayrely de Art Hotel. Unlike rooftop pools, having the pool on the ground floor like this means you get plenty of shade from the building, making it a much more comfortable spot to swim without the harsh sun beating down on you.

This is Heart Lodge, where I stayed on my last day. While it's super close to the Old Town, it wasn't really a great spot for swimming. There’s just a small blue pool right next to the walkway in the lobby on the first floor... Naturally, I didn't see a single person actually swimming there.

Now, take another look at the pool at Silk River Hoi An. It’s on a completely different level!

For a place this clean and beautiful, it only costs around ~$32 a night. I’ve stayed at three different places in Hoi An, and I can confidently say this one offered the absolute best value for money.

Other Amenities

They have bicycles parked right in front of the hotel. Just speak to the staff, and you can borrow them for free!
It's incredibly easy to go for a breezy ride right along the river. While my first hotel also offered free bike rentals, the surrounding roads were packed with speeding cars and motorbikes, making it way too risky. I ended up giving up on riding there, but around here, it was so quiet with only a motorbike or two passing by occasionally. It's perfect for a relaxing ride to the Old Town in the evening, or a daytime trip to 'Rivia Riverside Coffee'!
Breakfast

The pool and bike rentals are fantastic, but honestly, the breakfast might just be the absolute highlight of this stay.

I was genuinely blown away by how beautiful the restaurant's atmosphere was. If I had known, I would've booked at least two nights here instead of just one! I was so sad to leave.

They have my absolute favorite—an egg station where you can get fresh omelets or fried eggs made to order!

They also serve a great variety of local Vietnamese dishes, fresh fruits, pastries, and cereals.

At this point, you seriously start to wonder if they accidentally underpriced the room rates!

I even managed to squeeze in a light 5km run at the gym. The air conditioning was blasting, and they have a great selection of dumbbells and other well-maintained workout equipment.
And that wraps up my review of Silk River Hoi An! If I ever visit Hoi An again, I'm definitely booking at least a two-night stay here. It's no wonder this place has such rave reviews on booking sites. The staff are incredibly friendly, and honestly, it’s hard to find a single flaw.
I highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Hoi An!
