In the past, Korean Air, Asiana, and Air Seoul

For the best Mount Fuji views from your airplane seat when flying to Shizuoka:

• When flying to Japan: Left side

• When flying back to Korea: Right side

While I recommend these, it's actually possible to catch views from both sides when flying into Japan.

Because the plane circles before landing,

you can actually see Mount Fuji on your way to Shizuoka, regardless of whether you're on the right or left side.

However,

if you sit on the left, you'll see it from a distance for a longer period,

while sitting on the right offers a closer, but shorter, glimpse.

2. Arriving at Shizuoka Airport

The airport is quite small, so immigration is usually quick,

taking only about 20 to 30 minutes.

3. Getting to the City Center

The only way to get from Shizuoka Airport to the city is

by rental car or airport bus...

Perhaps because it's smaller than other airports,

no matter your destination, you'll need to take an airport bus

to the nearest subway station.

Shizuoka is a more rural area, so public transport isn't the best,

and waiting times can be incredibly long. If you can drive,

For your Japan Shizuoka trip, I'll break down how to get from the airport to the city,

focusing on the most popular destinations:

Shizuoka Station, Fuji Station, and Fujinomiya Station.

Getting to Shizuoka Station is super easy:

just take the airport bus from Stop #3.

The fare is approximately 1,200 JPY and takes about an hour.

4. Fuji Station or Fujinomiya Station

If you're coming to Shizuoka, Japan,

✔ and heading to Fuji Station or Fujinomiya Station,

you have two ways to get there from the airport.

1. Travel after transferring to the subway at Shizuoka Station

2. Travel after transferring to the subway at Kanaya Station

The best way to travel might depend on the bus schedule,

but generally, I recommend going via Kanaya Station.

Buses heading to Kanaya Station depart from Stop #2.

Going via Kanaya Station is cheaper and

there are plenty of seats, making for a more comfortable journey.

* Fuji Station: Kanaya Station → Fuji Station

* Fujinomiya: Kanaya Station → Fuji Station → Fujinomiya Station

For my Japan Shizuoka trip, I followed the

Fujinomiya - Fuji Station - Airport route, and from Stop #2 at the airport,

I took the bus via Kanaya Station

I made my way to Fujinomiya Station.

Good to know: If you're holding a Mini Pass, you can hop on any JR line—whether it's an express train or a local one—giving you the freedom to explore Shizuoka in Japan super affordably! 😗

🎫 Just a heads-up: since this is an international shipment, make sure to purchase it at least a week in advance!

Whether your final stop is Fuji Station or Fujinomiya Station, you'll need to catch the train from Platform 2 at Kanaya Station and head towards Fuji Station first.

Pro tip: If you sit on the left side (facing the direction of travel), you'll be treated to stunning views of Mount Fuji along the way!

I unfortunately sat on the right and missed out... oops! 😉

Once you arrive at Fuji Station, if you're continuing to Fujinomiya Station, you'll need to ✔ transfer one more time from Platform 1.

Here's the train timetable for the Fujinomiya direction! Those times highlighted with white text in red boxes are for express trains, which will get you there a bit quicker, so definitely keep that in mind!

* There's an additional charge of ~$2 if you opt for the express train.

* But great news: if you're rocking the Mini Pass (transportation pass), there's no extra fee!

For this leg of the journey, make sure to grab a seat on the right side (facing the direction of travel) if you want to soak in those iconic Mount Fuji views—it's truly the highlight of any Shizuoka trip! ✨

When you arrive at Fujinomiya and try to pass through the ticket gate, those without a Mini Pass might find themselves in a bit of a pickle! Apparently, Fuji Station and Fujinomiya Station are considered different zones, so there's an additional charge of around ~$1.

No worries though! Just speak to a station attendant, let them know you came from Fuji Station, and you can easily pay the difference with cash or a transportation card.
