Shizuoka Airport to City Shuttle Bus Guide 2026: Essential Tips
Planning your trip to Shizuoka? Get from Shizuoka Airport to the city center easily with our shuttle bus guide, including fare details, boarding tips, and a hotel recommendation.
The most convenient way to reach Shizuoka City from Shizuoka Airport, without any transfers, is by taking the airport shuttle bus.

You don't need to book in advance (and can't, actually). You can pay the driver with cash when you exit or use a transportation card like Suica.
I'll share my experience and essential tips for taking the shuttle to Shizuoka City.

2. Bus fare & cash preparation tips |
3. Shizuoka Airport shuttle bus experience |
4. For return to Shizuoka Airport: Shizuoka Station Bus Stop 14 |
1. Head straight to the bus stop upon arrival

Shizuoka Airport is quite small, so if you've pre-registered with Visit Japan Web, immigration will be a breeze.

Don't dawdle after exiting immigration! Head directly to Bus Stop 3 for the Shizuoka City shuttle and get in line.
The shuttle buses operate on a schedule and depart once full. We learned this the hard way: we got cut off from an earlier bus and had to wait for the next one. With buses running roughly an hour apart, we ended up wasting a full hour at the airport.

If you're relying on public transport and not a rental car, I highly recommend getting in line for the shuttle as soon as you land.
2. Bus fare & cash preparation tips
The shuttle bus fare for adults is ~$8.
There's no separate ticket booth; you pay the driver directly when you get off. If you pay with cash, drivers typically don't give change.
The bus supposedly has a coin changer, but I didn't spot it.

So, if you plan to pay with cash, grab some small bills or coins by buying a snack at the Seven-Eleven located in Shizuoka Airport before boarding.
3. Shizuoka Airport shuttle bus experience
The journey from Shizuoka Airport to Shizuoka Station in the city center takes about 1 hour.

I knew Japanese buses could be a bit snug, but this ride felt particularly uncomfortable. The bus didn't move very fast, and the roads were incredibly winding.

It felt like it took over two hours!
Especially on our return trip, we had an early morning flight, so we took the shuttle to Shizuoka Airport in the predawn hours. Being tired, combined with the winding roads, many passengers felt motion sick. If you're prone to car sickness, I suggest taking some motion sickness medication beforehand.
4. For return to Shizuoka Airport: Shizuoka Station Bus Stop 14

The airport shuttle bus from Shizuoka Airport arrives at Shizuoka Station Bus Stop 14.

When your trip is over and you're heading back to Shizuoka Airport, just go to Shizuoka Station North Exit and catch the bus from the same Bus Stop 14.

Again, buses depart when full, so make sure to arrive early before the scheduled departure time to secure your spot.

And right in front of Bus Stop 14 is “Hotel Associa Shizuoka”. If you're looking for accommodation in Shizuoka, I highly recommend this place!

The fact that the airport shuttle stop is right outside is a huge advantage for this hotel. Shizuoka Station is also super close.

Operated by JR, the rooms are spotless, and the staff service was excellent.
When using the bus from Shizuoka Airport to the city:
✅ Adult fare is ~$8. If paying cash, prepare exact change in advance.
✅ Shuttles depart when full, so head straight to the bus stop after your flight.
✅ The trip to the city takes about 1 hour, but it can feel longer. The bus doesn't speed, and winding roads can cause motion sickness, so be prepared.
With these tips, have a wonderful trip to Shizuoka!
