Browsing LP records, exploring the K-Pop section, and checking out the latest J-Pop albums I've been enjoying lately – time flew by, especially with a refreshing Tower Records beer in hand! Many Western tourists were also stocking up on LPs, making it an unexpectedly fun stop.

After a packed day exploring Shibuya, it was time for dinner.

Our chosen spot for the evening was a fantastic yakitori restaurant:

Since we were visiting with our child and it was a Saturday evening, we made a reservation in advance to ensure we'd get a table. We booked easily through Google Maps.

While draft beer (Nama-biru) or highballs are common choices, for this Tokyo trip, we decided to focus on sake. We asked for a recommendation for a dry, "karakuchi" style sake, and they suggested the “Suikyoku Junmai Ginjo Murokanama.” We ordered two servings.

Yakitori skewers are grilled to order, so there's a short wait for the food to arrive. Overall, the skewers were delicious and not greasy at all, pairing wonderfully with the sake. As a Junmai Ginjo, it was clean and crisp with a delightful aroma that didn't overpower the grilled flavors. While beer is a classic choice, I highly recommend trying sake with yakitori – it’s a surprisingly excellent combination!

We ordered a variety of skewers, including classic yakitori, negima (chicken and scallion), chicken neck, and chicken skin.

The absolute standout, though, was the chicken liver.

It might be a polarizing choice for some, but if you enjoy offal like tripe or intestines, you'll absolutely love this. It was savory, rich, and so flavorful that we ended up ordering it twice!

At first, I thought the portions might be small, but after trying various skewers and enjoying the sake, we were surprisingly full. The total bill for the three of us, after eating to our heart's content, came out to just over ~$62.

We brought our child to this Tokyo restaurant, and interestingly, the table next to us also had a family with young children, likely preschoolers or early elementary students, enjoying yakitori.

It can be tough to find a quiet, authentic, old-school Tokyo restaurant in the heart of Shibuya that's also welcoming for families with kids. So, it was a real pleasure to discover this spot and enjoy a wonderful dinner.
