Dreaming of that iconic Tokyo skyline from Shibuya Sky but dreading the booking process? Here’s the ultimate 2026 guide to snagging those coveted sunset tickets.

Planning a trip to Tokyo? Then you’ve probably seen the jaw-dropping photos from Shibuya Sky. Let me tell you, getting tickets for that magical sunset hour felt like trying to score front-row seats to a rock concert.
It’s no joke—the most popular time slots, especially for sunset, are essential to book in advance, and they sell out lightning-fast.
▼ Gone in under 30 minutes! This is what you're up against. ▼

I set alarms, had both the official Shibuya Sky website and the Klook page open, and went into full-on booking mode the second they went on sale.
Having gone through the trenches, I’m here to break down the two main ways to book your tickets—the official site vs. Klook—so you can snag the perfect spot without the stress.

Honestly, my biggest worry after securing tickets wasn't the crowd—it was the weather. And, of course, on my scheduled day... it rained.
Q: So, what happens when it rains?
The main attraction, the open-air "Sky Edge" rooftop deck, will be closed. You'll be limited to the indoor observation gallery.
Here's the most important tip you'll get:
Both the official Shibuya Sky website and Klook allow you to cancel your tickets for a full refund up to the day before your visit.

So, make it a point to check the weather forecast 24 hours before your scheduled time. If it looks gloomy, cancel immediately. Don't waste your money on a foggy view!

Tickets are released exactly two weeks in advance at 12:00 AM Japan Standard Time (JST).
If you’re just looking for a daytime slot, you can probably book more casually. But if you're chasing that epic sunset and the glittering city lights at night, you need a game plan.

※ Pro-Tip for Sunset Chasers:
Step ①: Check the sunset time for your visit date.
In April, for example, the sun sets around 6:00 PM.
You should book your entry slot for at least one hour before the actual sunset.
ex) Sunset at 6:00 PM → Book a 5:00 PM or earlier entry time.

Why? You have to line up, take the elevator, and store your bags in a locker before you can even get to the rooftop. Don't risk missing the main event by cutting it too close. Give yourself plenty of buffer time.

Shibuya Sky Booking: Official Site vs. Klook Breakdown
| Official Site | Klook |
Pros | Tickets drop at 12:00 AM sharp | User-friendly English page Discount coupons available |
Cons | Foreign card fees Potential for payment errors | Opens 3-4 minutes later |
While both have their pros and cons, here’s how to maximize your chances of success:
Step ②: Try to book on both Klook and the official site at the same time.
This is exactly what I did. I had Klook open on my screen, and my friend was trying the official site. We both managed to get tickets! We ended up canceling the ones from the official site to avoid the extra card fees. Remember, cancellations are free!

Step ③: Apply a Klook discount coupon.
After selecting your date, time, and number of people, don't forget to enter a promo code before you pay (look for the yellow box).

These coupons often work for almost any activity on Klook, not just Shibuya Sky.
Register all three codes now so they’re ready to use when you need them!

Don't panic! You have a grace period. If your entry time is 6:00 PM, you can enter until 6:19 PM.
After 19 minutes, you won't be allowed in. Also, note that you cannot enter early.
So, being up to 19 minutes late is okay! I was sprinting through Shibuya station thinking I wouldn't make it, but I got there just in the nick of time.

As I mentioned, I was unlucky with the weather and forgot to cancel the day before. Rookie mistake.
However, I got a small dose of good luck. The rain let up for a bit right as I arrived, and they temporarily opened the rooftop!

Even with a light drizzle and cloudy skies, the city's nightscape was still a sparkling spectacle.

We got about 10 glorious minutes on the roof before the rain started again. Staff guided everyone back inside to the indoor observatory.
It was a bit of a letdown, I won't lie.

So, let me say it one more time: please check the weather the day before your visit!
If the forecast shows rain or heavy clouds, take full advantage of that free cancellation policy.
In my opinion, it's not worth the ticket price if you can't access the rooftop. You're better off saving that money for an extra plate of amazing sushi or a delicious bowl of ramen.
Follow these tips for booking on the official site vs. Klook, and you'll be set to conquer the two-week-out booking battle. Good luck! ♥️
Yes, if it rains, you cannot enter the outdoor rooftop observation deck, and only the indoor observation deck is accessible. Both the official website and Klook allow free cancellation of reserved tickets until the day before your visit, so it's recommended to check the weather and cancel if necessary.
Tickets open at 00:00 (midnight) two weeks before your visit date. To increase your chances of successful booking, it's recommended to open both the official website and Klook pages simultaneously and attempt to book. We suggest choosing an entry time about an hour before sunset to allow for a relaxed visit.
Tickets on the official website open at 00:00, but credit card fees may be charged separately, and payment errors can occur repeatedly. Klook offers a Korean page and allows the use of discount coupons, but tickets open 3-4 minutes later than on the official website.
If your selected entry time is 18:00, you can enter up to 19 minutes later, meaning until 18:19. However, if you arrive more than 19 minutes late, entry will not be possible. It is also not possible to enter earlier than your reserved time.
