Sercotel Hotel Rosellón: Sagrada Familia View
My Honest Rooftop Review
The Sercotel Hotel Rosellón is renowned for one thing above all: its absolutely breathtaking views of the Sagrada Familia!
Its rooftop terrace, offering direct, unobstructed views of the cathedral, is incredibly popular. While you can make a reservation, hotel guests get the ultimate perk: unlimited access without needing a prior booking! That sealed the deal for me, and I instantly booked my stay.
In this comprehensive review, I'll share everything from my honest room experience to snagging the best spots on the rooftop, how to book, and even some discount codes to help you save!
Location

Location, location, location! You truly can't beat the Sercotel Rosellón's prime spot. The magnificent Sagrada Familia is literally right across the street, and the surrounding neighborhood is bustling with fantastic restaurants and feels incredibly safe.

Sercotel Official Website | 3 and 4 star city center hotels
If you're not a hotel guest but still want to enjoy the rooftop, reservations open 14 days prior to your visit on the official website. There's a non-refundable reservation fee of 7 Euros. Honestly, one of the big reasons I decided to book a stay here was to bypass that fee and enjoy unlimited access!
Sercotel Hotel Rooms

If you dream of waking up to the Sagrada Familia, make sure to book a 'Familia View' room. Standard rooms offer other views, but not the iconic cathedral.

Overall, the room size was quite generous, offering plenty of space to spread out. It came equipped with a desk perfect for laptop work, a TV, coffee maker, and a mini-fridge – everything you need for a comfortable stay. Plus, there was ample space to open up our suitcases without feeling cramped.

Peeking out the window, there it was: the Sagrada Familia! ❤️ I had hoped for a higher floor, but I was assigned a room on the 2nd floor, which meant the view was partially obstructed by surrounding buildings. However, my initial worry that I wouldn't see it at all was unfounded; it was still quite visible, which was a pleasant surprise. And let's be real, I knew I'd be spending plenty of time soaking in the views from the rooftop anyway!

The bathroom was surprisingly large, feeling about 1.5 times the size of a standard home bathroom. It was well-stocked with all the essential amenities, including shampoo, body wash, and even toothbrushes.
Price

I booked my one-night stay for February, which is generally considered a less busy season, and paid around ~$205. When you compare this to other accommodations offering Sagrada Familia views, it's actually quite a steal. Factor in the unlimited, complimentary access to the rooftop, and it feels like an incredibly fair price for such an iconic experience!
Keep in mind that prices fluctuate based on the season and specific dates, so I highly recommend checking different booking sites to find the best possible deal for your travel plans.

The Rooftop

After snapping plenty of photos in our room, we headed up to the rooftop just before sunset. We simply told the staff our room number, and we were in! Upon arrival, all the prime spots with the best views were already taken, so we settled into a spot further back and patiently waited for a better table to open up. (The staff happily confirmed we could move seats whenever a spot became available).

A 'one drink per person' policy is in effect, so grab a seat, scan the QR code on your table to view the menu, and place your order with a friendly staff member.
We arrived around 5:30 PM, and to our surprise, within about 20 minutes, several of those coveted prime spots started to clear out. We were able to snag a fantastic table much quicker than we anticipated!

And there it was: the Sagrada Familia, unobstructed and absolutely breathtaking. It's one of those sights you could stare at for hours and never get tired of – so beautiful, so magnificent, so utterly grand!

There were tons of people snapping photos all around us. Honestly, even if you don't get a front-row seat, you'll still capture incredible shots.

I was really hoping to capture the cathedral bathed in the glow of a sunset, but the cloudy weather meant it simply transitioned from day to night without much fanfare. It was quite warm during the day, but once the sun went down, it got surprisingly chilly! Definitely pack a cardigan or light jacket if you plan to stay into the evening.

We ordered a delicious Jamón pizza (so Spanish, so good!), a glass of wine, and a refreshing sangria. The food and drinks were surprisingly good for a rooftop bar, especially considering the primary draw is the view. (Yes, the prices reflect that incredible vista, but it's totally worth it!).

So, if you're looking for: ▶ A reasonably priced hotel with an unbeatable Sagrada Familia view! ▶ Free, unlimited access to an incredible rooftop bar without extra reservation fees! Then I wholeheartedly recommend the Sercotel Rosellón. Spending hours just soaking in the cathedral's majesty from up here felt absolutely priceless.
