Sannomaru Hotel Mito Review 2026: Your Top Ibaraki Stay Near Tokyo

While searching for a place to stay in Ibaraki,

the name I saw most often was Sannomaru Hotel.

Usually, when people visit Ibaraki, they take an airport bus or

rent a car to get to the city center where Mito Station is,

and this hotel is just a 2-minute walk from Mito Station.

Today, I'll share my review of Sannomaru Hotel and

also introduce some ongoing events in Ibaraki!

Mito Sannomaru Hotel

Sannomaru Hotel is located just

a 2-minute walk from Mito Station, and since it's in the biggest downtown area,

you'll find plenty of great restaurants and the large Excel shopping mall nearby.

It's also close to the famous Kairakuen Garden,

and Hitachi Seaside Park is just a 20-minute drive away.

Given that most travelers in Ibaraki use rental cars,

you can consider it to be in the absolute best central location.

Room types range from single rooms perfect for solo travelers,

to double rooms and twin rooms that can comfortably accommodate families.

The largest twin room is 27m², spacious enough for a family of three.

Best of all, there's plenty of space even with your suitcase fully open,

so you won't trip over anything while moving around.

You can even enjoy a simple meal while watching TV from the sofa.

It's rare to find hotels with a large public bath in Ibaraki,

but Sannomaru Hotel has a large public bath that you can use all night long!

It's open until 10 AM, which was great because I could still use it in the morning before checking out.

However, a small drawback is that it's a very popular hotel,

so rooms tend to sell out quickly.

I kept checking for a month and was only able to snag a cancellation room two weeks before my stay.

The booking competition for Sannomaru is particularly fierce compared to other accommodations,

Designer Twin Room

While the exterior of the building might look a bit dated,

as soon as you step into the lobby, you definitely get a luxurious hotel vibe.

There was a staff member who spoke Korean exceptionally well

(they might even be Korean!),

so I was able to check in comfortably in Korean, without needing to use English or Japanese.

The breakfast area is also incredibly clean and elegant.

I thought a twin room with two single beds would feel cramped, but

The bed was super spacious, even for two adults!

On the bed, you'll find clothes specifically for the public bath, but we ended up just wearing them as pajamas throughout our stay – they were incredibly comfy and perfect!

The TV was a lifesaver, offering Netflix and a surprising number of channels! Views vary by room, but mine wasn't particularly scenic, so I happily kept the blackout curtains closed.

Around the vanity, you'll find all the essentials: a fridge, coffee pot, cups,

disposable toothbrushes, a hairdryer, and even a laundry bag.

Good news for longer stays! There are coin-operated washers and dryers on the first basement floor.

Just pop your laundry into the provided bag and you're all set!

The bathroom and shower are smartly separated, which is always a plus.

I actually didn't expect a tub since there's a fantastic public bath,

but to my surprise, there was a pretty spacious one!

Parking

If you're arriving by rental car, you can park in the lot conveniently located to the right of Sannomaru Hotel.

It's actually a private parking lot, not exclusively for the hotel, so the listed rates might look a bit high.

But fret not, the hotel offers a special discount!

Parking operates on a post-checkout payment system.

You simply enter your parking spot number into the machine, and the fee will display.

Then, just insert the special parking voucher you received from the hotel, and watch that price drop!

We settled up right after our one-night stay and were thrilled to find we could leave

for free, no charge at all!

I totally get why everyone recommends Sannomaru Hotel
