Just finished exploring Muang Boran? Don't leave Samut Prakan without trying these three fantastic local eateries, from vibrant sea-view spots to charming garden cafes!

It's common to see travelers venturing from Bangkok's bustling city center via the BTS Skytrain to Samut Prakan, often with the magnificent Muang Boran (Ancient City) as their primary destination.
While the atmosphere in Samut Prakan is quite a departure from Bangkok's urban sprawl, making it feel a little unexpected at first, it truly makes for an excellent day trip.
After a day of exploring the vast grounds of Muang Boran, you might find yourself wondering where to grab a bite. Having spent some time in Samut Prakan myself, I've put together a list of three fantastic local eateries near Muang Boran that are definitely worth a visit.
Among these, you'll even find a spot serving a delicious stir-fried mantis shrimp dish, similar to one I thoroughly enjoyed in Phuket!
🌊 สายลม บางปู (Sailom Bangpu)

Operating Hours | 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM |
Notes | Recommended at sunset, dedicated parking available |
This is a fairly large seafood restaurant with direct views of the sea. The tables are widely spaced, making it suitable for large groups.
Next to the restaurant entrance, there's a bakery that sells delicious banana cake. I've often seen locals queuing up to buy it. Even when I brought friends from Bangkok, they bought several banana cakes to take home to their parents.
It's one of those places where, even after finishing your meal, you'll find yourself debating whether to grab a cake on the way out!
Sometimes, a small market sets up near the entrance, and there's also a tiny shop selling ceramic cups and plates, which are lovely to browse before or after your meal.
Given the abundance of outdoor seating, I highly recommend bringing insect repellent if you plan to visit in the afternoon or evening.
If you're looking to enjoy authentic Thai food with a sea breeze, this spot offers the most open and inviting atmosphere.

🌅 ร้านอาหาร บ้าน ณ เล (Ban Na Le)

Operating Hours | 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM |
Notes | Recommended at sunset, small parking lot available |
Though smaller in scale than Sailom Bangpu, Ban Na Le also offers wonderful sea-view dining. It has a slightly more rustic and humble ambiance.
Be aware that you might encounter some ants in the outdoor seating area (just a heads-up!). I once found myself in a bit of a bind here because they didn't accept certain digital payment methods, so it’s always a good idea to bring cash for a smoother experience.
If you prefer a quieter, more intimate setting to enjoy a meal by the sea, this spot might be a better fit for you.

Plearn Cafe Bang Pu

Operating Hours | 7:30 AM - 8:00 PM |
Notes | Dedicated parking available |
At Plearn Cafe Bang Pu, you'll find a charming cafe at the entrance, leading into a separate dining area. You can order cafe items alongside your meal in the dining section, or move to the front cafe for coffee after you've finished eating.
It's incredibly convenient to handle both your meal and dessert in one pleasant location. The small garden in the back is beautifully maintained and perfect for snapping some lovely photos.
Of the three spots, this one offers the cleanest and most organized atmosphere.
Here, I tried the fried morning glory, which is usually served stir-fried. But this version, lightly fried to a crispy exterior and tender interior, was exceptional – I'd definitely order it again on a return visit!
If you're visiting with family or simply prefer a more polished and orderly dining environment, this place is an excellent choice.

📝 In a Nutshell
From beachfront restaurants to charming garden cafes, if you're planning a visit to Muang Boran and need dining ideas in Samut Prakan, these three spots are strong contenders for your post-exploration meal.
GNL payment is not available at Ban Na Le Restaurant (ร้านอาหาร บ้าน ณ เล). Therefore, it is advisable to prepare cash for your meal.
At Plearn Cafe Bang Pu, we recommend the fried morning glory. Unlike the usual stir-fried morning glory, here it's lightly fried, offering a unique taste with a crispy exterior and tender interior.
We recommend visiting both restaurants around sunset. Especially for Sailom Bang Pu (สายลม บางปู), which has many outdoor seats, it's a good idea to bring mosquito repellent if you visit in the afternoon or evening.
