When booking the Sagrada Familia tower, my biggest concern was
which to choose between the **Nativity Tower** and the **Passion Tower**,
and how much time it would take to visit the tower as well.
I booked my visit through the official Sagrada Familia website, choosing
**cathedral interior admission** along with the **Passion Facade (Passion Tower)**,
and off I went!✨

Sagrada Familia Tower: Which One to Choose?
When I tried to book admission tickets on the official website, I realized
you couldn't go up both towers, but had to
choose just one between the Nativity Facade and the Passion Facade.
I'm not usually a huge fan of history or architecture,
and I often think that beautiful photos are what truly last from a trip.
So, rather than focusing on the intricate details of Gaudi's architecture,
my priority when choosing a tower was
which one would offer the most stunning views of Barcelona's cityscape.
Nativity Facade vs. Passion Facade
Based on the official website's information and
a quick summary of the two facades' characteristics:

The Nativity Facade was appealing because it offers a close-up view of the architecture and intricate details that Gaudi himself was involved with during his lifetime.
However, since I really wanted to see the Barcelona city view,
I ultimately chose the **Passion Facade**✔️
Sagrada Familia Interior Admission and Tower Visit: When is the Best Time?
We visited at the end of April.
Our **cathedral admission time was 2:00 PM**,
and our **Passion Tower admission time was 2:30 PM**
Even around 2-3 PM at the end of April, the colorful light streaming into the cathedral was
absolutely beautiful. However, I heard that as the sun gets lower,
the light penetrates deeper into the opposite pillars and ceiling, creating
an even more dramatic atmosphere. It was a bit of a shame not to see the stained-glass light around sunset.
Popular time slots, especially late afternoon near sunset and those including tower access,
can sell out quickly.
So, rather than insisting on a sunset time,
it's safer to secure a tower ticket that fits your schedule first.

Visiting Hours for the Sagrada Familia Passion Facade Tower
We entered the basilica at 2 PM,
briefly explored the central pillars and stained glass,
and then headed to the tower entrance according to our reservation time.
After taking the elevator up to explore the architecture and views,
the time we came back down the stairs and returned to the interior of the basilica was
around 3 PM—wow!
The actual time we spent looking at the views and architecture was about 30 minutes.
If you include the elevator ride and travel time,
the total time would be around 30-40 minutes.
According to official guidance,
the estimated viewing time, including the tower, is about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
However, after we came down from the tower,
we took our time exploring the interior of the basilica more.
So, if you want to take plenty of photos inside the basilica and visit the museum as well,
I recommend allocating about 2 hours for the entire visit.
Honestly, the rainbow colors of the stained glass were so stunning
that I just wanted to stay inside the basilica forever 🌈!
Our Experience Going Up the Passion Facade Tower
We took the elevator up,
and from the moment we got off, we walked along the stairs at various points.
Looking down from such a high place was a bit scary, I admit.
But it wasn't dangerous at all since there were railings everywhere.
Once we were actually at the top of the tower,
what first caught my eye, even more than the city views, was
the Sagrada Familia architecture right up close!
Inside the tower, it felt like we were peeking at the views through the structures and small openings,
so capturing the photos I had imagined was more difficult than expected.
It wasn't quite like a wide-open observation deck,
so if you're only going up for the city views,
you might feel a little disappointed.
However, encountering the intricate details up close, which aren't easily visible from below,
made me wonder,
‘How on earth did Gaudi envision all the structures and sculptures even at this height?’
It made me feel like Gaudi was a true genius all over again.
I remember my partner and I kept exclaiming in awe and taking photos.
And with the Sagrada Familia nearing completion,
it was a unique and fascinating experience to see the construction site up close for ourselves ✨.
Sagrada Familia Tower Stairs and Important Notes
We walked down the spiral staircase on our way back,
and it wasn't incredibly difficult for us.
BUT, the descent is entirely by stairs, so if you have bad knees or
if heights and narrow staircases make you uncomfortable,
it might be a good idea to definitely consider this before booking a tower-inclusive ticket.

According to official guidance, large bags or backpacks must be left in lockers before going up,
and children under 6 are not permitted to enter.
So if you're traveling with children, be sure to check before booking!
Even if you have mobility issues, acrophobia (fear of heights), claustrophobia, or similar conditions,
it's highly recommended to check the tower's access restrictions and precautions beforehand-!
Would I recommend the Sagrada Familia towers?
With the experience of gazing at Barcelona from high above
and seeing the upper parts of the basilica up close,
my partner and I were really happy with our choice to add the tower visit 💛
While visiting just the interior of the Sagrada Familia is meaningful enough,
if this is your first trip to Barcelona, Spain,
and you're not particularly bothered by heights or stairs,
I think adding the tower visit is definitely worth considering at least once.
Rather than one being inherently 'better' than the other between the Nativity and Passion towers,
if you're curious about Gaudi's architecture and ornate decorations from his lifetime, choose the Nativity tower.
If you're interested in views towards the city center and the sculptures of the Passion Façade, go for the Passion tower!
You can just choose based on what you want to see-!
Especially if you're someone who wants to see Gaudi's architecture up close,
I totally, totally recommend it ✨
