La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona
Official Website Booking, Tickets, Interior, & Completion Updates
The ultimate highlight of any trip to Barcelona,
Gaudi's unfinished masterpiece: La Sagrada Familia!
I've visited my fair share of cathedrals across Europe,
but honestly, absolutely none of them
have moved me quite like La Sagrada Familia.

With the final cross recently being placed at the top,
excitement about its completion has been buzzing.
Unfortunately, the full completion is projected for around 2034.
But since the whole world will rush here the moment it's finished,
I highly recommend visiting as soon as you can!
Today, I'll share how to book your tickets
and give you a sneak peek inside this breathtaking wonder.

How to Book on the Official Website

The best way to buy your tickets for the interior is
by using the official website.
Tickets usually open 2 to 3 months in advance,
and they are cheaper than other third-party booking sites.

By the way, please don't count on buying tickets on-site.
It is practically impossible.
Especially same-day tickets—you won't stand a chance!!
You absolutely must book in advance.
What if my desired dates are sold out?
Booking Site | Price | Booking Link |
MyRealTrip | ~$60+ | |
Trip.com | ~$34+ |
If your preferred dates are completely sold out,
your only option is to buy through third-party travel platforms.
These sites usually secure canceled tickets to resell,
so they are pricier than the official site,
but if your dates are coming up fast, it's a lifesaver! ㅠㅠ
Currently, Trip.com offers tickets around ~$34,
which is the closest price to the official website.

If you only want to see the interior of the basilica,
you can purchase the basic admission ticket for €26,
and if you also want to access the towers,
go for the €36 ticket at the very bottom.
(If you search on YouTube, you can get a sneak peek of the tower view.
Honestly, the view didn't blow me away, so maybe check it out before deciding!)

When choosing a visit date,
as of March 19, almost everything was sold out until April 5—except for just one day!
Tickets are currently open through May.

Time slots are available in 15-minute intervals,
and you can enter up to 30 minutes before or
30 minutes after your selected time.
Generally, 9:00 AM and 3:00 to 4:00 PM are the most popular times.
If you are taking a Gaudi tour, I highly recommend the 3:00 PM slot.

Select the ticket quantity for your party.
If you are under 30 years old,
you can get a €2 discount on your ticket!

Enter the first and last names of each visitor.

Fill in the details for the primary buyer.
Find and select "South Korea" for the country code,
and then enter your phone number.
The very last box is for marketing consent,
so feel free to leave it unchecked and just click the PAY button!

It will ask one more time if you really don't want to add tower access.
If you don't want to purchase it, just click "No."

Once that's done, your tickets will be sent to your email.
Simply take a screenshot or save them on your phone,
and show them to the staff at the entrance!

Just a heads-up: Tickets booked through the official website cannot be refunded or changed!
While they occasionally issue refunds if you email them with a valid reason for why you can't make it,
it's best to assume they are strictly non-refundable!
Korean booking platforms like MyRealTrip are also non-refundable,
but tickets purchased via Trip.com do allow for conditional cancellations.
Heading Inside

For entry, head to Zone C at the back of the basilica.
They'll do a quick security bag check alongside the ticket scan,
but it didn't take long at all—we got inside in no time!

While the exterior of La Sagrada Família is absolutely stunning,
I truly believe the real magic begins once you step inside.
The sheer scale of the space instantly takes your breath away.
"Grand" doesn't even begin to cover it—it's so incredibly majestic,
and you'll find yourself constantly gasping in awe at the sheer beauty of it all.

I entered at around 3:10 PM,
and seeing the sunlight stream through the stained glass windows,
I completely understood why the afternoon slots are so highly sought after.
Photos and videos simply can't do justice to
how beautiful it truly is...
I honestly think it's a place everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime.

In the afternoon, warm red, yellow, and orange tones
stream through the stained glass on the left,
while in the morning, cool blue tones illuminate the right side.
The morning vibe must feel so different,
so if I ever get the chance to visit again, I’d love to come in the morning!

The interior is incredibly vast,
so taking it all in and snapping photos took about an hour.

If you've taken a Gaudí tour, you probably already know
how deeply religious and devout he was.
Because of this, everything from the exterior facades to the interior details
is filled with symbolism expressing God and his faith.

The Lord's Prayer is written in languages from all around the world,
and you can find it written in Korean, too!
'오늘 우리에게 필요한 양식을 주옵소서' ('Give us this day our daily bread')

The light was so mesmerizing that it took me a while to look up at the ceiling,
and I realized there isn't a single simple pattern or straight line up there.
You can really feel Gaudí’s signature grandeur and his obsession with organic curves.

If you're planning your dream trip to Barcelona,
I highly, highly recommend stepping inside
the Sagrada Família!
While exploring at your own pace is wonderful,
listening to the stories of Gaudí on a guided tour
will make your trip so much more meaningful.
(Inside guiding is optional, so you can choose what works for you!)
