Sagrada Familia Jesus Tower 2026: Can You Climb to the Top?
The Sagrada Familia's Jesus Tower was completed in June 2026, set to become an iconic viewpoint. Find out when visitors can finally climb to the top!

The tallest tower, can we go up?
HOLA, fellow travelers!
As a Spain travel blogger, I couldn't possibly skip sharing the latest on the Sagrada Familia's completion!
Here's a quick rundown for you.

1. Sagrada Familia Basilica: Is it Really Complete?

News of the Sagrada Familia's "completion" has been buzzing, and if you're planning a trip to Barcelona, you're probably wondering what all the fuss is about!
Here's the scoop: this "completion" refers specifically to the exterior structure of the central Jesus Christ Tower, not the entire basilica.
The exterior work on the Jesus Tower wrapped up on February 20, 2026, but interior work is still slated to continue through 2027 and 2028.
For the basilica as a whole, there's still plenty to do, including the Glory Facade, various decorations, and staircases. The absolute final! completion is projected for around 2034.

Nevertheless, on June 10, 2026, local time, they held a sort of... completion ceremony. I watched the whole thing intently on YouTube, and it made me want to hop on the next flight!
If you missed it, I highly recommend finding the YouTube video – the drone show at the end was absolutely spectacular.
With the central Jesus Tower now complete, the Sagrada Familia has officially become the tallest church in the entire world!
Talk about an iconic landmark, right?
2. The Jesus Tower: Can You Climb It?

To get straight to the point: no, general tourists cannot currently go up the Jesus Tower.
Right now, if you book a tower-inclusive ticket for the Sagrada Familia, your options are limited to the Nativity Facade Tower or the Passion Facade Tower.
So, while the exterior of the Jesus Tower is finished, it's not yet operating as an observation deck.
The reason you can't climb it yet is precisely because only the exterior structure is complete, as mentioned earlier.
The interior still requires further work on visitor pathways, observation areas, elevators, and other safety installations to welcome guests.
Official announcements confirm that interior work is scheduled to continue through 2027 and 2028.
3. Planning Your Visit Now? What Ticket Should You Get?
If you're determined to see Barcelona's panoramic views from the basilica,
you'll need to select a ticket that includes either the Nativity Facade Tower or the Passion Facade Tower when purchasing from the official website.

The image shows general admission on the top left and tower access on the bottom right. Honestly, the views from the existing towers aren't particularly breathtaking, so I don't think it's absolutely essential to go up. You'd be better off spending more time exploring the stunning interior of the basilica.
Even though it's just the exterior that's complete, the Jesus Tower holds significant symbolic meaning. It's definitely worth seeing up close and capturing some photos! Alternatively, I highly recommend taking a Gaudi tour to get a more in-depth explanation and hear about future plans directly from a local guide.
