Barcelona: Where Pickpocketing Was My Biggest Worry
So, I dove deep into accommodation reviews,
and put a lot of thought into choosing the perfect location.
📌
While researching recommended accommodation locations in Barcelona,
the most crucial factors for me were
just three things:
1) Safety
Is there foot traffic even late at night,
and is it close to a wide, open main street?
2) Location
Is the location convenient for traveling to and from major tourist attractions
and the airport?
3) Cleanliness
Do recent guest reviews mention good room cleanliness?
We arrived at Barcelona Airport
after 7 PM,
and our itinerary meant we'd need to head back to the airport after 4 nights to catch a flight to Mallorca.
To minimize time spent hauling suitcases,
we narrowed down our search to the area around Plaça de Catalunya,
which is close to the airport bus stop and within walking distance of major attractions.
Among the options, we ultimately chose
Room Mate Pau ✨,
which had excellent room reviews and ratings.

My partner and I
stayed for 4 nights in a Standard Room,
and we didn't add breakfast.
So, what was our experience like staying there for 4 nights?
Here's my honest review, paid for with my own money, starting now! ✍🏻

Barcelona Accommodation Safety:
Why We Chose Plaça de Catalunya
After getting off the airport bus
and walking directly to Room Mate Pau,
I saw El Corte Inglés Department Store right next door,
and the main street area was well-lit.
Even though we arrived late at night with our suitcases,
my initial worries significantly decreased.
Right across from the hotel,
there was a supermarket to grab water and snacks,
and it was super convenient for catching the metro and buses
or heading to major attractions.

It was an absolutely ideal location for walking travelers ✨,
whether we wanted to drop off shopping bags and head back out or simply pop back for a quick break after a day of exploring on foot.

Just a 2-Minute Walk from the Barcelona Aerobus Stop
When we arrived in the city center from Barcelona Airport,
we took the Aerobus
and disembarked at Plaça de Catalunya.
From the bus stop to the hotel entrance,
the actual time it took to walk with our suitcases was
approximately 2 minutes.

On our late arrival day, not having to wander far to find our hotel was a huge relief.
Even when returning to the airport after our 4-night stay,
we could catch the airport bus from a nearby stop.
Considering the round-trip travel convenience, I felt we made an excellent choice for our accommodation location.

Roommate Pau Standard Room: Our Experience

The room we were assigned was
a double-bed standard room on the 4th floor.

When choosing accommodation, I always prioritize
cleanliness, so before booking, I meticulously checked
recent reviews for room conditions and any mentions of bugs.
Roommate Pau had many reviews praising its cleanliness,
and as soon as we entered our room, the floor wasn't carpeted but hardwood,
which definitely gave it a fresh and pleasant feel!

The bedding was super neat and clean too!

According to official information, the room size is 18㎡,
so it wasn't a super spacious room, but there was a separate,
dedicated luggage space with a bag icon in front of the bed,
which was great for unfolding and organizing our suitcases.

Drinking water was available from the tap.
A refrigerator, safe, electric kettle,
and plenty of hangers were also provided.

(+ Even a welcome chocolate and card on the bed 🤎)

The bathroom was clean, free of water stains or mold,
and the shower pressure was quite strong.
The sink was separated outside the shower area,
making it convenient for two people to get ready at the same time.

But, the shower filter had a design that made it difficult to replace.
There were also days when water leaked out after showering,
so I remember having to check the bathroom floor occasionally;

Breakfast at Roommate Pau
Reviews for Roommate Pau's breakfast seemed good,
but we booked a non-breakfast option,
so unfortunately, we didn't get to try it.
Instead, we either grabbed simple sandwiches or fruits from the supermarket across the street,
or headed to a famous churros spot nearby for breakfast.

My Honest, Personal Review of Room Mate Pau
When I first picked out this place, I was looking for a spot
close to the airport bus stop,
with easy access to major tourist attractions, and clean rooms.
And this place absolutely checked all the boxes!
If I ever visit Barcelona again,
this is definitely an accommodation I'd love to revisit!✨
🇪🇸My Happy Journey to be continued🇪🇸
