A World-Class Sunset Spot — Rock Bar at AYANA Resort, Bali

To be honest, one of the biggest reasons I chose Bali as my vacation spot
was because of the iconic Rock Bar.
I saw a single photo of the sunset there, and it was so breathtaking
that I knew I had to experience it for myself. When I looked it up,
I found out it was in Bali and located inside the AYANA Resort.
That's exactly why I ended up booking both my trip to Bali and my stay at AYANA!
So, as soon as I secured my flights and AYANA Resort booking,
the very first thing I reserved was my spot at Rock Bar.

How to Book Rock Bar
First, make sure to download the "AYANA Hotels & Resorts" app!
If you've already completed your resort booking,
you can easily log in by entering your name and booking code.
Head over to the "Dining" category in the app,
and you can book not just "Rock Bar" but all of AYANA's amazing restaurants
well in advance! Haha.
After selecting "Rock Bar," we booked our slot for
5:00 PM.
I'll share my top seating recommendations in detail below! 😉
We stayed at "RIMBA by AYANA," one of the gorgeous properties within the resort complex.
As soon as we arrived, we grabbed lunch at the Chinese restaurant,
chilled by the Cabana Pool for a swim,
and then headed back to our room to freshen up before heading out for our Rock Bar reservation.
Since the AYANA Resort grounds are absolutely massive,
there are frequent shuttle trams running throughout the property.
Just hop on a tram, head to the AYANA Main Lobby, and then walk down from there.
If you walk to the right from the AYANA Main Pool,
you'll see a path heading all the way down, just like in the photo above.
There are plenty of signs along the path,
so finding your way is a breeze!
Keep in mind that Rock Bar does have a dress code,
so make sure to double-check it before you head down!
Before you board the funicular, the staff will verify your reservation,
and once you're checked in,
you can hop on the funicular that takes you down to Rock Bar.
The view from up here is absolutely breathtaking!
Once you arrive, the staff will verify your reservation one more time
and show you to your table.
Initially, they were going to seat us on the second floor,
but since I had researched beforehand, I had my heart set on the "Tapas Table" seats.
Pro tip: If you subtly ask the staff for the best photo spot,
they might just guide you to an amazing table! Haha. 😊

Rock Bar Seating Types & Recommendations
1. Round Deck - Exclusive for AYANA Villas Bali Guests
Personally, I think the Round Deck looks most beautiful when photographed from a distance,
and photos taken *on* the deck itself didn't seem to turn out quite as nice.
2. Top Bar - Exclusive seating for resort guests only
This spot is perfect for looking straight out at the ocean sunset!
3. Dinner Tables - There is a minimum spend, so
I'd highly recommend this option for those wanting to enjoy dinner here.
4. Sofa - The minimum spend here is a bit higher than the Tapas Tables,
so I'd recommend it for groups of 4 or more rather than just couples.
5. Daybeds
These are super popular with honeymooners and couples.
There is a bit of a minimum spend,
but if you want to lounge comfortably and take your time enjoying the sunset,
I definitely recommend the daybeds!
6. Tapas Tables (Highly Recommended Photo Spot!!)
You can only order drinks and tapas here,
but it's fantastic for couples and friends!
It's wonderful for soaking in the panoramic sunset views,
and I absolutely recommend it as a prime photo spot.
7. Countertop
This has the lowest minimum spend and is great for a casual Rock Bar experience.
Since it's located near the edge, it actually gives you a fantastic view of the whole scene.

There are way more drink options available,
plus they have dessert menus too!
Since we sat at a "Tapas Table," we could only order from the tapas menu.
We went with the two most highly reviewed items:
"Calamari" and "Crispy Mini Tacos."
Both of them were absolutely delicious!!
Sitting there and watching the sunset colors change minute by minute
was just so, so, so incredible.
I immediately understood why this is known as one of the best sunset spots in the world.
(If you arrive early, the direct sun can be quite intense,
so they have parasols at every table. They're a bit bulky, but you can use them so you don't get worn out waiting for the sunset.)
— And definitely wear sunscreen before you go!!
Rather than just looking straight out at the ocean from your seat,
the view framing the Round Deck in the distance is much more scenic.
As it gets dark, the lights turn on,
making the atmosphere truly magical.
With the music playing and the gorgeous views,
this was definitely one of my absolute favorite moments in Bali.
Since we had another plan after this,
we came back up shortly
after it got completely dark.
But I highly recommend staying long enough to catch the night view!
The night view here is absolutely gorgeous.
When we got back up and looked up at the sky,
we could see so many stars shining so clearly.
Rock Bar is hands down one of those absolute must-visit spots when you come to Bali!!
Because it's so popular, booking can get super competitive.
Especially for the prime photo spot, the "Tapas Table,"
which is also open to non-resort guests.
So, as soon as you book your stay at AYANA Resort,
I highly recommend reserving your spot at Rock Bar in advance through the app!

You need to install the official Ayana Hotel & Resort app and log in with your guest name and reservation number. You can then select Rock Bar from the dining category in the app to book your preferred time in advance.
