I had heard rumors about its strong Japanese ambiance, but seeing it in person was truly impressive. The Japanese script adorning the walls and the constant stream of J-pop playing made me feel like I had instantly teleported to Japan. It was an incredibly immersive experience right here in Gurae-dong.
Another fantastic feature that caught my eye was the stylish bar area. While it’s great for groups, it’s absolutely perfect for solo diners looking for a chic spot to enjoy a drink and some delicious food. I immediately thought of my friends who love solo outings – I definitely need to tell them about this gem! 💙
Reorio Menu Highlights
Once we settled in, I started browsing the menu and was pleasantly surprised by the variety! There were so many tempting options, making it hard to choose. Haha.
After much deliberation, I decided that an izakaya experience just isn't complete without skewers, so I opted for the 7-skewer assorted platter. I also spotted Mentaiko Motsunabe on the menu, a dish I absolutely loved in Fukuoka, so I had to order that too!
As soon as we placed our order, the table was set beautifully. I appreciated that they provided ample individual plates for both the skewers and the Mentaiko Motsunabe. The accompanying sauce for the Motsunabe was incredibly tasty – I devoured every last drop! Haha.
Our Order at Reorio
7-Skewer Assortment
The skewers were not only visually appealing but also incredibly delicious.
The mini charcoal grill served alongside them added a lovely, atmospheric touch. But what I loved even more was that it kept our skewers perfectly warm while we chatted and enjoyed our meal – such a thoughtful detail.
After sampling all seven types, I can confidently say they were all fantastic, but...
My personal favorite was the chicken and scallion skewer (Negima). It truly reaffirmed that Negima is simply divine! There was absolutely no gamey taste, and it's definitely a must-order item here!
Mentaiko Motsunabe
Having thoroughly enjoyed Motsunabe in Fukuoka, I simply had to order the Mentaiko Motsunabe here. 💙
The large intestine, mentaiko (spicy cod roe), tofu, and mushrooms in the Motsunabe all looked incredibly appetizing. I wondered if it could truly live up to the amazing Motsunabe I had in Fukuoka. But after tasting the rich, warm broth and the delightfully chewy intestine, I was utterly impressed.
It's clear that the owner's dedication to researching and refining their recipes while working in Japan truly shines through in this Mentaiko Motsunabe. It was just as delicious as the one I had in Fukuoka! 💙
From now on, whenever I crave Motsunabe, Reorio is definitely where I'll be heading! 💙
As we savored our meal, the thought of a drink naturally came to mind. My dad ordered some sake,
while my mom and I opted for sodas. 💙 I loved that they served the sodas in pretty glasses with ice – it’s those little touches that make the experience even better!
