Discover The Quarter Saladaeng, a Bangkok hotel offering spacious, separate suites under ~$69 a night. Ideal for workations or long stays with great transit access and a convenient kitchenette.
When choosing a hotel in Bangkok, I always look at both the location and the room size.
Especially if you need to work during your trip, a tiny room just for sleeping won't cut it. You'll want a place with dedicated space to work and relax comfortably.
For my recent Bangkok trip, I initially stayed with my siblings for about two weeks in a condo in Samut Prakan.
However, I realized that constantly commuting from Samut Prakan to central Bangkok wasn't ideal for exploring the city.
I decided it would be much better to spend the last week or so right in the heart of Bangkok to make sightseeing easier.
A few months back, I had a great experience at 'The Quarter Hualamphong', another property from the same brand. The room was clean, and it offered excellent value. Remembering that, I started my search by looking for 'The Quarter' brand again.
Having a kitchenette and living room in this suite was a huge plus.
While we didn't do any major cooking, the microwave, electric kettle, basic kitchenware, and large refrigerator made it easy to store drinks and fruits or heat up simple meals we bought outside.
With plenty of restaurants and a small market right around the hotel, we didn't feel the need to add breakfast to our reservation.
We'd simply pick up some fruit or snacks in the morning, store them in the fridge, and enjoy them at our leisure.
The bedroom was also quite spacious, complete with a closet and TV, offering a comfortable retreat after a day of work.
What I particularly loved was the view of Lumpini Park from our window.
My brother would often take morning strolls in Lumpini Park, looking for monitor lizards!
Convenient Location for Exploring Bangkok
The Quarter Saladaeng is tucked away on a side street, which might initially seem a bit out of the way.
However, during our stay, we found it to be pleasantly quiet, which was a definite plus.
It's about 0.3 miles from Silom Station and 0.4 miles from Sala Daeng Station, making it super convenient for using both the BTS Skytrain and MRT subway.
Getting to central Bangkok areas like Siam was also straightforward via public transport.
The hotel's vicinity boasts numerous restaurants and massage parlors.
Stepping out to the main street expands your options even further, so finding a place to eat was never a challenge during our stay.
On hot days, the complimentary tuk-tuk shuttle service to key BTS and MRT stations was a lifesaver. Even for distances you could walk, Bangkok's heat makes this service incredibly useful.
Pros and Cons After a 6-Night Stay
During our week-long stay, the bedding was clean, and we had no issues with bugs. The air conditioning worked perfectly, ensuring a comfortable environment for both work and relaxation.
On the flip side, the hotel itself is a bit older, so if you're expecting the sleek, modern feel of a brand-new property, you might be a little disappointed.
I also used the gym once and noticed that some of the equipment was out of order.
This is something to consider if hotel facilities are a high priority for you.
We didn't utilize the swimming pool or other amenities during this visit.
After our 6-night, 7-day stay, the biggest advantages of this hotel were definitely the room size, location, and price.
If you're looking to spend a few days in central Bangkok, explore the city, and also need to get some work done, a spacious suite with a separate living area like the Premier Suite is far more comfortable than a cramped standard room.
Especially for two people needing individual space to work or relax, the generous layout was truly appreciated.
While the hotel isn't brand new, being able to get a room of this size for around ~$41 a night was fantastic value.
I would definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Bangkok.
