In Seminyak, I checked out Potato Head Beach Club,
a place famous among Bali's beach clubs for its unique architectural design.
+ Plus, since it was my friend's birthday, I even got a tip on how to snag a surprise birthday dessert!

Potato Head Beach Club is
located within the Desa Potato Head Hotel.
Initially, it was one of the candidates when I was deciding on my Seminyak accommodation,
but the rooms seemed a bit small for the price, so I ended up passing on it.
Its location was super convenient – just a 10-minute walk from my Seminyak hotel.
So, I just threw on a cover-up over my bikini and strolled over.

Potato Head Beach Club,
being located within a hotel, definitely has excellent security
right from the entrance. It also seemed to attract a lot of hotel guests.

When heading to Potato Head Beach Club,
you'll turn into an alley-like path off the main road,
and that's where you'll find it.
There are buggy cars available right from the entrance of the alley –
just tell them you're going to Potato Head Beach Club, and they'll give you a ride!
It's about a 5-minute walk, or a quick 1-2 minute buggy ride,
but it's hot, so definitely take the buggy.

After a quick bag check at the entrance,
you're immediately struck by a grand feeling.
Each architectural element feels authentically Balinese,
creating an atmosphere that's truly distinct from other beach clubs.
The further you go inside, the more impressed you'll be by its sheer scale.
The outdoor sunbed area even has artificial grass,
and the overhead light decorations create a really unique ambiance.
On one side of the main pool, you'll find a jacuzzi pool and a beach bar.
And this is the kids' pool.
This is the main pool, right in front of the beach,
so gazing at the horizon and watching the sunset from the main pool
was just pure bliss.
You can enjoy the sunset with a different vibe
depending on your viewing angle.
How to Book Potato Head Beach Club Minimum Charge Information by Seating Type & Recommended Seats |
At Potato Head Beach Club,
there's a minimum charge for each seating area.
Of course, there are walk-in spots without a minimum charge, but
during sunset hours, these might not be available.
I'm a complete planner, so I made sure to reserve my spot before visiting!

It's in front of the main pool, offering direct beach views.
It's great for enjoying the sunset,
but since the pool is behind it,
it's not a beach + pool view, which is a bit disappointing.
The green sunbeds in front are the "Poolside" sunbed spots.
These spots allow you to enjoy the pool + beach view
without any obstructed sightlines.
If you plan to spend a long time at Potato Head,
I recommend it, but
the minimum charge is quite high, so it's recommended for anniversaries, honeymooners, couples,
or when going with several friends.
"Sun Lawn" *Recommended Seating*
This is an area with green lawn,
and you get a panoramic view of everything at a glance.
It was great for eating, relaxing, and lounging while enjoying the view.
Personally, at a reasonable price point,
it was the best spot, which is why I recommend it.

These are walk-in seats,
and there's no separate minimum charge.
During the golden sunset hours, the seats were definitely all taken.
If you want to come early or enjoy comfortably,
I recommend booking a spot with a minimum charge.

I made my reservation through the website.
Let me tell you about the recommended seating I used.
The spot I chose was
spot number 3, the most central one in the "Sun Lawn".
It's right behind the poolside seats,
and being central, it was convenient to use.
It was also close to the main pool, which was a plus.
However, many people walked past right in front of us,
so if you prefer a quieter experience, a spot further back would also be good.
This is spot #3. Once your reservation is confirmed,
your dedicated server will set up beach towels for you.
I made a reservation for 5 PM (3 hours usage time).
Arriving at 5 PM was perfect for watching the sunset.

Potato Head Beach Club is
definitely on the pricier side compared to local Bali prices.
Please keep this in mind when planning your budget.
Lobster 600g (Market price) - 1,450,000 IDR
Since we came for dinner and to enjoy the ambiance, we also needed to meet the minimum charge,
so we started by ordering lobster.
Prices vary according to market rates.
As there were two of us and we planned to order other dishes, they recommended 600g,
so we ordered the 600g portion.
Corn Ribs - 90,000 IDR
They're a reliably delicious snack, great to munch on.
sweet potato fries - 90,000 IDR
These sweet potato fries were a recommended menu item, and they were delicious!!
I even considered reordering just these.
You absolutely must try the sweet potato fries!!
Smoked Chicken - 245,000 IDR
We ordered this as an extra after we finished swimming,
but I don't have a picture, sadly. ㅜㅜ
It was a decent grilled chicken. 😊
All menu items are subject to additional service charge and tax.
Overall, the food was good,
the ambiance was lovely, and the facilities were well-maintained,
It was absolutely worth it!

The main pool's atmosphere totally transformed with the sunset.
The sunsets I witnessed in Bali were truly
all like paintings. After snapping a few photos,
I found myself just soaking in the beauty with my eyes for ages.
As it got darker, unique lights switched on above,
creating a completely different, equally magical ambiance.
Since Potato Head Beach Club is located within a hotel,
the facilities felt exceptionally clean and
very well-maintained overall.
Even the ladies' restroom was incredibly spacious and spotless.
How to Get a Birthday Surprise at Potato Head Beach Club (+Pro Tip!!) |
Since my travel companion was celebrating their birthday week,
I inquired via email if they had cakes on the menu, intending to order one.
They confirmed my reservation number and said they would provide a birthday dessert
as a complimentary service!
From here on, it was a 007-style operation from our dedicated server... hehe!
After confirming I was the one who made the reservation, to ensure my companion didn't catch on,
while taking our menu order,
our server subtly handed me a piece of paper to write the birthday person's initials. 😉
After we finished all our food, they quietly whispered, asking if it was a good time to bring out the dessert,
and then brought out the dessert with birthday lettering,
even singing 'Happy Birthday'!
Their thoughtful attention to detail even touched me, who had planned the surprise!
At Potato Head, we had a dedicated server who
continuously looked after us, which was very convenient,
and our server was incredibly kind.
Thanks to them, it was a wonderful memory :)

While it's not exactly budget-friendly due to its price point,
it absolutely offered enjoyment worth the cost,
making it a fantastic Seminyak beach club.
If you're staying in accommodation near Seminyak,
it's definitely worth visiting at least once.
Our Seminyak accommodation was just a
10-minute walk from Potato Head Beach Club,
making it incredibly convenient to get around.
