Melbourne Family Trip Accommodation Recommendation
Why We Chose Pegasus Apart'Hotel

With our Melbourne trip coming up next month,
accommodation was something I thought long and hard about.
Since we'd be staying for three nights with our child,
I weighed several factors.
After comparing everything from apartments to Airbnbs,
the place we finally chose was
Pegasus Apart'Hotel.
Today, I'll share why we picked Pegasus Apart'Hotel
for our family stay in Melbourne, along with its pros and cons, and even the price.

1. Key Factors for Our Melbourne Family Accommodation
In Melbourne, my spouse, our child, and I –
three of us – plan to stay for three nights.
Considering the dining out costs in Australia, we hoped to be able to prepare
breakfast or simple meals at our accommodation
rather than eating out for every single one.
So, from the start, I focused my search on Melbourne
apartment hotels with cooking facilities.
Location was also key.

I wanted a place within Melbourne's CBD that offered
easy access to the free tram, and was close enough
to walk to supermarkets for groceries or nearby restaurants.
Since we're traveling with a child,
I also cared about whether we could get immediate assistance
if any issues arose at the accommodation.
The three most important things I considered were:
① Availability of cooking facilities
② Ease of movement within the city
③ Price for a 3-person stay and accommodation management style
.
2. Apartment or Airbnb? Comparing Three Options
Looking for places with cooking facilities within the free tram zone,
I furiously researched and compared three options:
Platinum City Serviced Apartments,
Pegasus Apart'Hotel,
and Airbnb.

Comparison Item | Pegasus Apart'Hotel | Platinum City | Airbnb |
Accommodation Type | Official Hotel-Style Apartment | Serviced Apartment | Privately Run Accommodation |
Price | Relatively Affordable | Higher than Pegasus | Varies greatly by property |
Cooking | Available | Available | Mostly Available |
Room Cleaning | Provided Daily | Available for 5+ nights stay | Mostly Self-Managed |
Reception | Staff On-Site | Operation style needs checking | Mostly None |
Laundry | Shared Laundry Room (Paid) | Available In-Room | Varies by property |
Facilities | Pool · Spa · Fitness | None | Varies by property |
In Case of Issues | Request directly from hotel staff | Inquire with management | Contact host |
I liked that Platinum City offered in-room laundry facilities.
Pegasus didn't have a washing machine and dryer in every room,
which was a point of hesitation for me during the initial comparison.
However, when I compared prices, Pegasus was more affordable for our travel dates,
and the fact that they offered daily room cleaning was a huge plus.
What I learned while searching for Melbourne apartment accommodations was
that daily room servicing, like in a standard hotel, isn't always a given.
Some places provide cleaning only once every 3-5 nights,
or the cleaning frequency can vary depending on the length of your stay.
Airbnb was also a consideration until the very end
Airbnb also looked appealing because it allowed cooking and,
if chosen well, offered really spacious accommodations.
However, I felt a bit uneasy because **it's individually operated**.
**Check-in procedures** and
**on-site requirements** can vary by accommodation,
and if there's an issue with the stay, you can't just switch to another room like at a hotel.
Thinking about scenarios like a sudden cancellation
or an issue with the room after checking in, where I'd have to resolve it directly with the host,
I thought that **if the price difference wasn't huge, staying at a proper hotel with staff always there would definitely give me more peace of mind.**
3. The Decisive Reason My Heart Leaned Towards Pegasus
What I liked most was
**being able to enjoy the benefits of both an apartment and a hotel.**
You can do light cooking in the room, and because it's a formal hotel, there's always reception staff, plus you get **daily room cleaning.**
The location turned out to be fantastic for a family trip!
Pegasus Apart'Hotel is located within Melbourne's city center free tram zone.

In particular, it's about **400m to Queen Victoria Market**, roughly a 5-minute walk,
making it incredibly convenient for grabbing groceries or simply soaking in the market atmosphere.
And with plenty of supermarkets and restaurants close by,
we were spoiled for choice!
There's also a park and playground just across the street, so as someone staying for a few days with a child,
I was really happy with the surrounding environment.
The hotel's amenities were surprisingly comprehensive!

I didn't expect much since the price was so affordable,
but it even boasted an **indoor pool, a spa, AND fitness facilities!**
While sightseeing was my main purpose in Melbourne, and I didn't choose the accommodation specifically for the pool,
it would be perfect for days when our adventures with the kids wrapped up early or if the weather outside wasn't cooperating!
And it was such a relief to know that luggage storage, both before check-in and after check-out,
could be conveniently handled right at the hotel reception.
4. Price Comparison: Rooms Starting from Just ~ $88 Per Night!
I compared prices on Trip.com and Agoda,
my usual go-to platforms for snagging the best international hotel deals.

The most budget-friendly option for two, the **Queen Studio**, started from just **~ $88 per night**.

If you're traveling as a trio, like us,
you can pick between a **Deluxe Studio** or a **Two-Bedroom Apartment**, both comfortably accommodating up to four guests.
Since I didn't require a separate living room,
I happily chose the more budget-friendly **Deluxe Studio**.

At first glance, the prices seemed pretty similar across both platforms.
But here's the exciting part!
When I applied a **5% hotel discount code** for **Trip.com**, valid until the end of September,
the price dropped to an amazing **~ $121 per night**!
Compared to Agoda's ~ $131, that's a sweet **~ $10 difference per night**!
And since I booked for 3 nights,
that added up to a total saving of over **~ $31**...!

5. Why I Booked Even Without an In-Room Washing Machine
When I was choosing Pegasus, there was one drawback that made me hesitate until the very last moment.
It was the fact that there's no washing machine or dryer right in the room.
For an apartment-style stay, I thought it would be more convenient to have a place where I could even do my laundry in the room, so I considered other accommodations with in-room laundry options.

However, since I was only planning to stay for 3 nights in Melbourne,
I figured I'd only use a washing machine once, even if I did.
And Pegasus Hotel actually has a communal laundry room,
so I knew I could use it if I needed to.

What appealed to me more than having a washing machine in the room was the ability to get
daily room cleaning,
plus access to cooking facilities and all the hotel's amenities.
That's why I ultimately chose the Pegasus Apart'Hotel.

On the other hand, if daily room cleaning isn't a must for you,
and an in-room washing machine is absolutely essential,
then Platinum City Apartments might be a better fit for your travel style.
The Trip.com 5% discount code I shared earlier isn't just for Pegasus; it's a code you can
use for hotel bookings worldwide, both domestically and internationally!
So, make sure to use it to get the best possible price when you book your next adventure!
