Planning a trip to Australia with your parents? Explore curated Melbourne & Sydney package tours, perfect for senior travelers seeking comfort and adventure in 2026.

Sydney & Melbourne Package: 5 Nights, 7 Days in Australia
Itinerary Includes Great Ocean Road Helicopter Tour
(Perfect Gift Recommendation for Parents' 60th Birthday Trip in November/December)
📍 Post Summary 📍
-> Three ways to explore Australia's natural beauty: rental car, day tour, or package tour
-> A 5-night, 7-day itinerary featuring a Great Ocean Road helicopter tour
-> If traveling with parents in their 60s, ease of movement is a key factor in choosing your trip

There are generally three ways to see the Great Ocean Road and Blue Mountains in Australia.
You can rent a car, join a local day tour,
or go for an all-inclusive package tour.
📍 Great Ocean Road
Great Ocean Rd, Victoria, Australia
📍 Blue Mountains
Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia
Since this course bundles both Sydney and Melbourne, located at opposite ends of Australia,
the travel fatigue can vary quite a bit depending on the mode of transportation
if you're with your parents.
Australia: Rental Car, Day Tour, or Package — 3 Ways to Travel
A rental car offers the highest degree of freedom.
Your itinerary and routes are entirely up to you.
However, with left-hand driving and long distances, it can be a burden if you're not used to driving on that side.

A day tour is a way to visit sites on a single-day itinerary from Melbourne.
I chose this option myself.
It was a smooth way to travel without a rental car, but you'd need to plan a separate itinerary to connect it with Sydney.

A package tour bundles Melbourne and Sydney together.
It's structured to include domestic flights within Australia, accommodation, meals, and a guide.
Package tours involve the least driving hassle, while rental cars offer the most freedom.
Day tours fall somewhere in between.
🔍 Post Review: 12 Apostles Tour without a Rental Car
Australia Package Tour Itinerary:
Great Ocean Road, Melbourne, & Sydney
📍 Day 3: Great Ocean Road
It's about a 3-hour drive from Melbourne.
The itinerary includes the 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge, and Bells Beach.

This is also where I went on a day tour.
The rugged cliffs stretch along the coastline, offering plenty of photo opportunities every time you stop.

In my case, I paid an additional fee to take a helicopter tour.
It's a course that lets you view the entire coastline from above,
offering a distinctly different perspective than from the ground viewpoints.
Since helicopter tours are weather-dependent,
it's essential to check with the tour operator about availability and alternative arrangements before booking.

📍 Day 2: Melbourne City
Melbourne is a city I explored on foot as part of a self-guided trip.
The itinerary includes Flinders Street Station, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Arts Centre Melbourne,
Fitzroy Gardens, Parliament House, the City Circle Tram, and Hosier Lane.

Flinders Street Station, Hosier Lane, and the City Circle Tram are places I've already visited on previous solo trips.
While this itinerary seems designed to quickly cover the city's highlights, unlike my leisurely explorations of cafes and alleyways,
the convenience of not having to navigate yourself is definitely a huge plus.

📍 Days 4-6: Sydney
-> Day 4: Port Stephens – 4WD desert tour & sandboarding, dolphin cruise, Murray's Winery (wine tasting)

-> Day 5: Blue Mountains – Scenic Skyway, Cableway, & Railway, rainforest trekking, Leura Village, Featherdale Wildlife Park

-> Day 6: Sydney City – Opera House guided tour, Harbour Bridge, University of Sydney, Sydney Observatory, Darling Harbour, Barangaroo

Among these, the Blue Mountains seems to be the perfect fit for nature-loving parents.
Highly recommended for parents who are hiking enthusiasts!
The rainforest section is known for its gentle walking trails.
Sydney & Melbourne 7-Day, 5-Night Package Itinerary
This itinerary is based on a November 20th departure.
Day | Date | Details |
Day 1 | 11/20 (Fri) | Depart Incheon (8:00 PM, overnight flight) |
Day 2 | 11/21 (Sat) | Arrive in Sydney → Domestic flight → Melbourne city tour |
Day 3 | 11/22 (Sun) | Great Ocean Road, helicopter tour |
Day 4 | 11/23 (Mon) | Melbourne → Sydney domestic flight, Port Stephens |
Day 5 | 11/24 (Tue) | Blue Mountains, Featherdale Wildlife Park |
Day 6 | 11/25 (Wed) | Sydney city tour, Opera House interior tour |
Day 7 | 11/26 (Thu) | Depart Sydney → Arrive Incheon (7:00 PM) |
The outbound flight is OZ601. It departs Incheon at 8:00 PM on Friday night and arrives in Sydney at 8:20 AM the next morning.
It's listed as a 10-hour 30-minute direct economy flight.
The return flight is OZ602. It departs Sydney at 10:20 AM and arrives in Incheon at 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 26th.

You depart on Friday night and return on Thursday evening.
If you take a half-day off on Friday and four days of annual leave from Monday to Thursday,
this itinerary makes it possible.
(Good stamina is definitely a must!)

When traveling with parents, the amount of travel between locations can actually be more of a factor than the intensity of walking.
There are two domestic flights, and on day 4, you'll transfer to the airport early in the morning, so breakfast will be served as a hotel meal box.
The Great Ocean Road and Port Stephens each involve about 3 hours of travel,
and the Blue Mountains involve about 90 minutes of travel.
It's a somewhat packed schedule, more so than you might expect,
so it's a recommended itinerary for those traveling with parents who have a reasonable level of stamina.
Australia Package Tour Benefits: No Tips, No Optional Tours, Helicopter Tour Included
With a course and schedule like this,
it's time to wonder what makes it different from other tours.

Here's a summary of the features of Modoo Tour's newly launched
Australia package tour:
Item | Details |
Flights | Asiana Airlines direct round-trip (fuel surcharges & taxes included) |
Expenses | Guide & driver expenses included, no tips |
Optional Tours | No optional tours, Great Ocean Road helicopter tour included |
Sightseeing | 8 tours included, Korean-speaking guide, mini-bus transport |
Meals | 7 specialty meals (steak, fish & chips, hotel buffet, etc.) |
Lounge | Sydney Airport premium lounge on departure day (showers available) |
Shopping | 3 stops |
The helicopter tour is usually a separate payment option made locally.
It's worth about 195 AUD,
and the fact that it's included as standard is the biggest advantage of this package!
You can check the detailed itinerary and conditions below.

Australia: Rent-a-Car vs. Day Tours vs. Package Tour Comparison Table
Item | Rent-a-Car | Modoo Tour No-Option Package | Local Day Tour |
Cost Structure | Flights, accommodation, rental fee, insurance booked separately | Flights, accommodation, meals, guide included | Flights, accommodation separate + tour fee |
Travel | Drive yourself (left-hand traffic) | Mini-bus, domestic flights, driver handles transport | Morning departure, evening arrival (approx. 12 hours) |
Helicopter Tour | Separate booking | Included as standard | On-site optional (175~195 AUD per person advised) |
Itinerary Planning | Research & book yourself | Fixed itinerary | Book one day's itinerary only |
Flexibility | High | Low | Medium |
Drawbacks | Fatigue from long-distance driving | Less free time, 3 shopping stops | Need to plan Sydney separately |
Best for | Comfortable driving, planning own itinerary | Traveling with parents, seeing two cities at once | Melbourne only, for a short trip |
For flexibility, a rent-a-car is better.
However, if you're a traveler who prefers to avoid the stress of driving and comfortably follow a set itinerary, then a package tour is a better fit.
If you're looking for an itinerary to see Sydney and Melbourne with your parents all at once, a package tour is definitely recommended!!

Australia Package Tour: A Minor Drawback – 3 Shopping Stops
Three shopping stops are included.
However, all of these take place in Sydney,
allowing you to focus on enjoying the natural scenery during the Melbourne portion of the trip.

For shopping courses included in such package tours,
you won't need to go to a separate mall
just to buy souvenirs or gifts, because it can all be taken care of within the itinerary, which can actually be quite convenient.
Other than that,
the main point is perhaps the limited free time?
Australia Package Tour Price,
How Much Does It Vary by Departure Date?
The price can vary quite a bit depending on your departure date.
As of late September,
prices for November ranged from ~$2,423 to ~$2,927,
and December ranged from ~$2,212 to ~$3,161.

Even within the same month, or on the very same day of the week,
the difference could be anywhere from ~$511 to ~$949!
It wasn't necessarily more expensive during peak season or on weekends either.
Departure confirmation also varies by date.
If you're a busy professional needing to lock in your vacation plans,
it's best to minimize uncertainty,
so start by looking at dates marked as 'Departure Confirmed.'
You can check the exact price for each departure date and its confirmation status
by browsing different dates on the product page calendar.

📍 Regarding Your Itinerary
-> The lunch buffet on Day 5 has a dress code!
→ Smart casual attire is recommended.
→ Hats, sportswear, open-toed shoes (showing bare feet), and leggings are not permitted.
→ If you plan on wearing hiking attire, it's a good idea to pack a change of clothes.
📍 November Weather and Time Differences

-> Sydney's average temperature in November ranges from 15-24°C (59-75°F), with mornings and evenings feeling pleasantly cool.
-> The Blue Mountains are typically 3-5°C (5-9°F) cooler than the city.
Melbourne's weather can be quite unpredictable, changing throughout the day, so a light jacket or outer layer is a must!
-> Eastern Australia observes Daylight Saving Time, so it will be 2 hours ahead of Korea.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do I need to book the helicopter tour separately?
A. Good news! It's already included in the package, so no separate booking is needed. You can always confirm the operational conditions on the product page or with your tour representative.
Q. If it's a 'no-tip, no-option' tour, does that mean there are no additional costs?
A. That's right – guide and driver expenses, along with optional tour costs, are covered! However, please note that the ETA application fee, your personal expenses, and any shopping purchases are separate.
Q. Are fuel surcharges and taxes included?
A. Yes, the flight ticket section explicitly states that fuel surcharges, taxes, and other miscellaneous fees are included. However, it's always a good idea to double-check the passenger basis for the displayed price and any single room supplement fees on the booking screen.
Q. Is this trip suitable for traveling with elderly parents?
A. The walking intensity is generally low, making it manageable. The main challenges might be the long-distance vehicle transfers and domestic flights, so we recommend ensuring plenty of rest breaks are taken.
Q. If departing in December, will the airline change?
A. There's an important announcement: Asiana Airlines flights departing after December 17th will operate under Korean Air flight numbers, meaning Korean Air will be the operating carrier. If your departure is after mid-December, it's a good idea to double-check the airline details when you book.
