must-visit during your Barcelona trip.
Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1985,
it's a truly magical and unique destination.
From vibrant mosaic tiles and the iconic lizard fountain
to the undulating terrace benches and panoramic views
of the Barcelona skyline,
this is a place you simply have to see with your own eyes.
I visited Park Güell on a beautiful, sunny morning.
Today, I'm sharing everything from how to score discounted tickets
to my honest review and top photo spot tips for 2026.

While the official website charges €18 (~$24),
I found a way to book them a bit cheaper through a partner site,

Since walk-up tickets aren't an option,
advance reservations are mandatory.
Booking through the link above is super easy,
allows you to enter directly with a QR code,
and it's cheaper—so there's no reason not to!
💡 Important Note: You must arrive at the specific time
stated on your ticket. If you're late, you will be denied entry.
It's safest to arrive about 10 minutes before your time slot.
I highly recommend planning your Park Güell visit
for a clear, sunny morning.
On a clear day, the main terrace offers sweeping views
all the way out to the Mediterranean Sea!
Also, if you go around 2~3 PM, you'll be dealing with
the intense Barcelona sun, which can quickly drain your energy.
Visiting between 9~11 AM means cooler weather,
fewer crowds, and much better lighting for photos.
A sunny morning visit is a 10/10 recommendation!
I chose a route that started at the main entrance
and naturally led down to the back exit.
You can enter through the back, but it involves a lot of uphill walking
and stairs, so the main entrance is definitely the way to go.
Even entering through the main gate requires a bit of stamina
to reach the upper viewing terraces.
Since many paths are dirt or gravel, comfortable sneakers are a must.
Navigating the park is super easy.
There's a main flow of traffic, so just follow the crowd!
The first thing we did was head up to the main terrace for the view.
Capacity is carefully managed here,
so you might have to wait a few minutes for people to leave
before you can enter. The line moves fast, though!
The most popular spot on the terrace is
undoubtedly the undulating, wave-like mosaic benches.
Sitting here gives you the perfect photo op
with the entire city of Barcelona stretching out behind you.
The view from this exact spot was breathtaking.
Because we had such amazing weather,
we could see all the way to the blue waters of the Mediterranean.
It gets very crowded, so if you see an empty spot on the mosaic bench,
claim it immediately!
Following the path down, you'll enter
the Hypostyle Room (the forest of columns),
which is incredibly impressive.
The massive pillars, designed to evoke crashing waves, felt surreal.
Don't forget to look up—the ceiling is decorated
with beautiful, gleaming mosaic medallions.
Finally, you'll reach the famous lizard fountain
and the charming pavilions at the entrance.
They look exactly like gingerbread houses from a fairy tale.
Seeing them in person completely validates
why Park Güell is world-famous.

The El Drac (Lizard) Fountain is
without a doubt the most popular photo zone in the park.
The water flowing from its mouth is actually rainwater collected
from the terrace above—a true testament to Gaudí's genius!

We spent about an hour wandering around,
taking tons of photos, and picking up some souvenirs.
It's very easy to explore on your own without a guide,
so just make sure you secure your entrance tickets beforehand.

One last tip: even if you visit in the morning,
sunglasses and high-SPF sunscreen are non-negotiable!
The Spanish sun is incredibly strong,
and there's very little shade in the main areas.
Have an amazing time exploring Gaudí's masterpiece

Tickets for Park Güell cannot be purchased on-site and must be reserved in advance. You must arrive at the time specified on your ticket. If you miss your time slot, entry may be restricted, so it is safest to arrive 10 minutes beforehand.
Adult tickets are 18 euros. Children aged 0-6 are free, and children aged 7-12 and seniors aged 65 and over are 13.5 euros.
We recommend visiting on a clear, sunny morning. Especially between 9 AM and 11 AM, it's relatively cool and less crowded, making it ideal for taking photos. You can also see the distant Mediterranean Sea from the observation deck.
The main photo zones where visitors take many pictures include the terrace bench with its winding wave tiles and the lizard fountain. The lizard fountain, in particular, showcases Gaudi's genius as rainwater collected in the park flows through it.
