Most of Barcelona's iconic sights are conveniently located near a metro station, making them super easy to reach. But Park Güell, a true masterpiece, is a little further out from the city center. You won't find a metro stop or even a bus stop directly at its entrance, which can make figuring out your route a bit of a head-scratcher.
If you're tackling Barcelona independently and using public transport, I highly recommend taking the bus from the Sagrada Familia area. It’s a straightforward and scenic way to get there!

2. How to Book Park Güell Tickets Online
Just like many other popular attractions in Barcelona, booking your Park Güell tickets in advance is absolutely essential! You can easily reserve your spot through the official website linked below.
You'll see several options, but most visitors will want to select the first one: "Park Guell visit."
Choose the number of people in your party. For most adults, a "general ticket" is what you'll need.
After selecting your date, you'll also need to choose a specific entry time. I know, having a fixed entry time can sometimes feel a bit restrictive when you're on vacation, making it a bit tricky to stick to a rigid schedule!
If you're on a Gaudi tour, simply follow your guide's instructions. But if you're exploring independently, morning slots are generally preferred. During the summer, avoid the scorching midday heat—it can get quite uncomfortable!
Finally, you'll enter your personal information. Below that, there might be a quick survey asking how you heard about Park Güell – it's just a survey, so no need to overthink it! After that, just check the terms and conditions box and proceed to payment.
3. Getting to Park Güell by Public Transport
Park Güell is situated a little outside the bustling city center, so getting there will take some travel time. While most visitors opt for a guided Gaudi tour, which includes convenient transportation, I wanted to share some tips for those of you venturing out on your own!
Compared to other attractions, Sagrada Familia is relatively close to Park Güell, about a 30-minute bus ride away. Besides Park Güell and Sagrada Familia, the location marked above is the Sant Pau Hospital.
You can reach Sant Pau Hospital from Sagrada Familia by walking straight along Gaudi Avenue for about 15 minutes. "A hospital?" you might think, but it's actually an incredibly beautiful and architecturally significant site, so I highly recommend a visit!
From a bus stop about a 9-minute walk from the hospital, you can catch the H6 bus, which will drop you near the main entrance of Park Güell. Alternatively, you can take bus 191, which will take you to a different park entrance. Including walking time, you'll arrive at a Park Güell stop in about 25 minutes.

If Sant Pau Hospital isn't on your itinerary, you can catch the V19 bus near Sagrada Familia, which will take approximately 30 minutes, including walking.

I personally took the bus from near Sant Pau Hospital. While you need to be a bit more attentive to the bus stops when getting off, I find bus rides more enjoyable for sightseeing than the metro.
When you alight from the H6 bus, you'll be dropped off near the entrance seen on the left side of the photo. It's not right at the doorstep, though; you'll have a bit of an uphill walk to reach the main park area.
Once you make it up, you can snap a photo with the iconic lizard mascot, and then the expansive main square will be right before your eyes.
The famous serpentine bench encircling the square was designed to mimic the human spine for comfort, but honestly, I didn't find it comfortable at all... haha!
From the square, you can enjoy stunning views of the sea and even spot the Sagrada Familia in the distance.
Just a little extra tip... this photo was taken on a rainy day at Park Güell. Ugh. The weather can make or break a trip, can't it? I really hope you all get fantastic weather when you visit Park Güell. Trust me, it's pretty miserable when it rains... everything just feels blah.

Park Güell operates from 07:00 to 22:00 and is open every day (no holidays). The admission closing time is 18:00 during winter and 19:30 during summer.
From a bus stop near Sagrada Familia, take bus V19. It takes approximately 30 minutes, including walking, to reach Park Güell. This method is recommended for direct travel without passing through Sant Pau Hospital.
