1. Mont Saint-Michel Tour Comparison

📍 Mont Saint-Michel
Mont Saint-Michel, 50170 France
Mont Saint-Michel Abbey is located in northern France,
in the Normandy region.
It's a long-distance trip, taking about 4-5 hours one way from Paris.

That's why, rather than public transport or driving yourself,
it's a destination frequently visited using tours with a professional Korean guide and a dedicated bus.
Tour Comparison
Category | Europe Walk | Indigo Travel Core/Plus Tour |
Itinerary | Mont Saint-Michel, Honfleur Étretat or Giverny | Mont Saint-Michel, Honfleur + Étretat |
Original Price | ~$136 | 2-course ~$116 3-course ~$153 |
Discounted Price | With 20% coupon ~$109 (* ~$27 discount) | 2-course ~$104 3-course ~$137 |
The itinerary I recommend is
the Europe Walk tour which includes Étretat.
It's an early morning start and a bit of a tough schedule,
but you can catch up on sleep on the bus ride,
so bringing a neck pillow makes it perfectly fine.
Most importantly, dedicating an entire day to the French coast
allows you to fully immerse yourself in the charm of Normandy, which I loved.
(I recommend combining Giverny with a trip to Versailles.)

If you're traveling after August,
the Indigo Travel tour, which focuses solely on Honfleur and Mont Saint-Michel, excluding Étretat,
is also a great alternative.

Étretat
Prepare for strong winds

📍 Étretat
Étretat, France
If your itinerary includes Étretat,
you'll get to soak in the refreshing sea views and marvel at the magnificent Elephant Cliffs.
Étretat is also famously known as the coastal village beloved by the painter Claude Monet.
So, after visiting Étretat, if you head to Giverny and see his Étretat series, you'll experience a completely new perspective.

When you climb up the cliffs on the opposite side, the wind can be incredibly strong!
It's a great idea to bring a windbreaker, a hat, and hair ties.
Honfleur
Plenty of space for souvenirs & find a delicious lunch spot

📍 Honfleur
Honfleur, France
This is Honfleur, a charming and picturesque port city.
There's an old carousel right in the middle of town that's still running, which really brings the village atmosphere to life!

💡 Lalalhyun's Tip |
Make sure to pack plenty of Normandy specialties like milk jam (Confit de lait) and apple wine (Cidre) in your bag. I regretted only buying a few because I was worried about the weight – after one taste, I wished I'd bought more! The more, the merrier! |

Mont Saint-Michel
Get your poses ready!

Our final destination for this trip is Mont Saint-Michel.
You'll get off at the parking lot and take a dedicated shuttle bus right up to the abbey's entrance.

Walking up the narrow alleys to the abbey felt just like stepping into Howl's Moving Castle.
I visited on a perfectly clear, cloudless day, and my photos with the spire turned out absolutely magnificent!

If you're lucky, you might even catch a nun ringing the bells right on time.
The green lawn in the cloister was also incredibly beautiful.

If you stay to see the night view, this is the kind of scenery you'll witness.
Unfortunately, due to current energy-saving policies, the lighting isn't as grand as it used to be.
However, I still believe it's absolutely worth visiting just for its unique silhouette, bathed in soft, subtle light.
I'm definitely going back to Mont Saint-Michel, without a doubt! 🩵
3. Summary and Conclusion

The Mont Saint-Michel Abbey, often ranked as a must-visit day trip from Paris,
was a grand 20-hour adventure that filled an entire day, but
Personally, it was a day I felt was incredibly well-spent, both in terms of time and money.
If you're concerned about getting back late at night or in the early morning, remember that some tours offer
a hotel drop-off service – definitely something to check out!
