During a recent trip to Bangkok, my friend, who often explores the vibrant Korea Town area, took me to a local eatery they frequented: Pantaree Restaurant. I honestly expected the Nana Station vicinity to be solely bustling with bars and nightlife, so discovering this hidden culinary gem was a delightful surprise. The path to Pantaree might be a little adventurous, winding through lively streets, but the reward is incredibly authentic and budget-friendly Thai food.

Getting There

Pantaree is conveniently located about a 5-minute walk from Nana BTS Station. If you're coming from Asok Station, it's a slightly longer 10-15 minute stroll. I mentioned the journey might be a bit "adventurous" because the alleyways are narrow and often crowded, requiring you to stay alert. There are even signs warning about pickpockets, so it's not an exaggeration to keep your belongings secure while navigating the bustling streets.

Once you turn into the alley, you’ll spot a purple sign. The interior is simple and unpretentious, exactly what you’d expect from a beloved local spot.

The Menu

The recommended dishes on the left side of the menu are always a safe bet. Though the lighting in the photo makes it a bit hard to read, you can't go wrong with classics like Som Tum (papaya salad), Spring Rolls, or a flavorful Pork Stir-fry. They also offer a surprisingly affordable Poo Pad Pong Curry (crab curry), which is a fantastic value for the quality.

I spotted orange juice on the wall menu and decided to order a small one.

It was a standard orange juice, similar to what you'd easily find at a night market – refreshing enough!

We ordered Morning Glory, Pork Stir-fry, and the Poo Pad Pong Curry. For a solo diner, two dishes are usually perfect, while a party of two might enjoy three dishes. The prices here are incredibly reasonable compared to many other restaurants in the area.

The portions are a tad smaller, but perfectly sized for sharing and trying a variety of dishes. My friend and I easily polished off every last bite. For adult men with hearty appetites, I'd recommend ordering two dishes per person to feel completely satisfied. The flavors are consistently good and satisfying.

The Poo Pad Pong Curry was also quite good. In many other places, you might pay around 300-400 baht for a larger portion of this dish. Here, our entire meal, including multiple dishes, came to roughly 300 baht, making it an excellent value for an authentic Thai dining experience.

If you're looking for an authentic, budget-friendly meal near Nana Station, Pantaree is a fantastic choice. Apparently, even popular Korean content creators like Tzuyang have featured this spot! It's not a fancy, high-end restaurant, but a charming, humble local eatery perfect for experiencing genuine Thai flavors without overspending.
