Kyoto Weather in September & Essential Travel Tips
I'll share my personal experience with Kyoto's weather last September and some must-know tips to help you prepare.
Kyoto Weather in September & What to Wear

It's best to think of Kyoto in September as 'still summer'.
Daytime high temperatures can reach around 30°C, making it quite warm.
This past summer was quite hot, so you might feel somewhat 'immune' to the heat,
but it's still best to pack cool,
breathable short-sleeved tops and linen-based clothing.
Indoors, the air conditioning can be quite strong,
so it's useful to bring a light shirt or a thin cardigan.

✅Dual-purpose Umbrella & Stay Hydrated
September still brings strong late-summer sun,
and occasional sudden showers can pop up,
so always carry a lightweight, dual-purpose umbrella
in your bag for both sun and rain protection.
✅Transportation Tips
Kyoto city has excellent bus routes,
but traffic jams can easily occur in early autumn.
Rather than feeling pressured to buy a transportation pass and maximize its use,
it's much less tiring to simply charge a transportation card (ICOCA)
and flexibly combine subway and bus travel.

Flight Prices to Osaka in September
I found that flying for a short weekend trip during this Chuseok holiday period
was quite affordable, costing around ~$155.

With the train station so close,
getting to Arashiyama, a must-visit Kyoto spot,
is incredibly convenient.
Even with heavy luggage,
the smooth route makes getting around completely stress-free.

Fushimi Inari Shrine (Fox Shrine) are easily accessible,
thanks to excellent subway access.

Lobby & Check-in

As soon as you step into the hotel entrance,
you'll immediately feel the unique signature of the Onyado Nono brand!
✔️ Barefoot (or Socks) Policy Throughout the Entire Hotel
You store your shoes in the shoe locker at the lobby entrance before entering,
and from the lobby to the guest room corridors,
it's all connected by comfortable tatami flooring.
Thanks to the comfort felt beneath your feet,
it felt like my fatigue was melting away right from the entrance.

✔️ Luggage Storage Service (Before/After Check-in)
Even if you arrive earlier than the usual check-in time (typically 3:00 PM),
you can use the luggage storage service for free.
It's perfect for leaving your bags and heading out in light attire
to explore the delicious restaurants or cafes around Kyoto Station.
Room Review (Japanese-Western Style)

The room I stayed in featured
twin beds set upon a traditional tatami floor, and it definitely didn't have
that cramped or stuffy feeling typical of Japanese business hotels.

✅ Bedding
With a fairly firm mattress and soft,
cozy bedding, I was able to enjoy a deep, restful sleep.
✅ Noise Level
The soundproofing was excellent,
allowing me to relax in peace without any disturbing noise from the corridor or the outside road.

✅ Amenities & In-house Wear
Comfortable in-house wear (a two-piece set) that you can wear around the hotel,
and a small bath basket for the large public bath are provided.
✅ Important Note
The toilet might be a bit small,
but since you can shower at the large public bath, it wasn't inconvenient at all.

Facilities (Natural Hot Spring Public Bath & Late-Night Yonaki Soba)
The biggest reason to choose Onyado Nono Kyoto Shichijo is definitely its amazing facilities.

✅ Natural Hot Spring Public Bath (Spanning Two Floors)
This is a natural hot spring bath right in the heart of Kyoto city.
It's fully equipped with indoor baths, open-air style tubs, cold baths,
and even sauna facilities.
It's perfect for relaxing those tired leg muscles after a day of exploring.
✅ Avoiding Peak Hours
It tends to get crowded between 9 PM and 11 PM, so if you visit
right after check-in (around 4-5 PM) or in the morning,
you can enjoy a peaceful hot spring experience.
Alternatively, if you finish your meal quickly
and head to the hot springs during dinner time when everyone else is eating,
you can truly enjoy the hot springs in a wonderfully comfortable setting.
Complimentary Services
☑️Free Ice Cream (Afternoon/Evening)
After your relaxing hot spring bath,
you can grab some refreshing ice cream for free.

☑️Free Yogurt (Morning)
After your morning soak,
refreshing probiotic yogurt is available.
☑️Late-Night Yonaki Soba (9:30 PM - 11:00 PM)
In the evenings at the 1st floor restaurant,
a comforting soy sauce ramen (Yonaki Soba) is prepared
and offered for free, so make sure to grab some if you get hungry!
While it might not be a gourmet dish,
it's perfectly satisfying, reminiscent of a comforting bowl of janchi-guksu (Korean celebratory noodles)!
Price Comparison & Booking Tips
For weekdays during the regular season, prices are typically in the mid-to-high ~$120s to ~$140s,
while during autumn foliage season or holidays,
they tend to be in the early-to-mid ~$150s to ~$170s.
Considering the included access to the grand public baths and the late-night ramen benefit,
it's truly an accommodation with excellent value for money.
