Why Should You Visit Nusa Penida, Bali?
An island oasis located southeast of mainland Bali,
Nusa Penida

This is a place where you can experience a raw, majestic side of nature
that feels completely different from mainland Bali.
The island tours are largely divided into East and West.
If you're on a tight schedule, I highly recommend choosing
the Nusa Penida West Tour, which features
the absolute trendiest Instagram spots!

I've put together my highly satisfying personal experience of the
Nusa Penida snorkeling and West Tour itinerary,

and some real, insider tips!

Can You See Manta Rays While Snorkeling in Nusa Penida?

Nusa Penida Manta snorkeling is...
It's said to be one of the ultimate bucket list destinations for divers all over the world.

I hopped onto a shared boat with a maximum capacity of 20 people
and headed out to the snorkeling points.
To be completely honest,
the sea was quite rough and the waves were high on the day I visited,
so unfortunately, I didn't get to see any manta rays.
But there's absolutely no need to be disappointed!

Just slipping into the crystal-clear waters of Manta Bay
and Gamat Bay, which boasts an incredibly rich marine ecosystem,
was deeply healing in itself.

In fact, it was easily one of my absolute favorite experiences
out of all the tours I did in Bali!
✅ Insider Snorkeling Tips & Packing Checklist
The most common question people ask is, "Is there a place to change clothes?"

They have fully equipped changing rooms and restrooms,
and towels are provided as well.

I didn't know this beforehand, so I only brought a loose outfit
to throw over my rash guard,
and I ended up feeling so sticky and uncomfortable afterwards...
✅ Essential Packing List
Flip-flops (aqua shoes highly recommended), personal water bottle, sunscreen (the heavy-duty kind!),
swimwear (better to wear it beforehand), hat, mosquito repellent,
basic medicine (seasickness pills are a MUST!), and a fresh change of clothes

✅ Extra Tip
The local tour operator or driver will get in touch with you
via WhatsApp.
I highly recommend downloading the app and setting up an account
before you head off to Bali!
Is it really worth paying extra for a guide who speaks your language?
To give you the short answer: Absolutely!
Instead of the basic English-only option, I decided to book
the option that included a dedicated language guide,
and it turned out to be a total game-changer.

Not only did it make communication incredibly smooth,
but every time we moved to a famous spot like Kelingking Beach after lunch,
our guide enthusiastically snapped Instagram-worthy photos for us.
Their framing and composition skills were pure art!

Plus, being able to ask all the burning questions
I had accumulated during my Bali trip
helped me connect with the local culture on a much deeper level,
making the whole tour so much more engaging.

For lunch, we were served
traditional Indonesian Nasi Goreng (fried rice) and Mie Goreng (fried noodles),
which tasted absolutely delicious and gave us
all the energy we needed to keep exploring.

Our guide was so incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive
that when we booked our Uluwatu south tour on checkout day,
we specifically requested to have
the exact same guide again!
If anyone is curious about the contact details or tips
for this amazing guide,
just drop a comment below,
and I'll get back to you as soon as possible!

Even though the rough waves meant we missed out on the manta rays,
witnessing the raw, majestic power of nature at
Angel's Billabong and Kelingking Beach,
coupled with our wonderful guide's hospitality,
made the entire day worth every single penny.

If you're planning a trip to Bali,
the Nusa Penida West Tour is an absolute must, not just an option!
As I mentioned earlier, prices can vary quite a bit depending on the platform.
For the exact same package (Private Transfer + Shared Snorkeling + Guide),
I highly recommend booking in advance through the most budget-friendly platform!
