Venice, Italy, boasts different charms by day and night,
making it a city I highly recommend staying in, even if just for a short while.
I've had the pleasure of staying both on Venice's main island and in Mestre.

This time, I stayed at the
Novotel Venezia Mestre Castellana, located in Mestre, just off the main island,
and I was more than satisfied—it truly exceeded my expectations!
Getting to the main island by bus takes a comfortable 20-25 minutes,
and the prices at the nearby hypermarket were fantastic for shopping.
I visited supermarkets in every Italian city I traveled to,
and the LidL supermarket near here was, hands down, the best!

In Venice, Italy, where living costs can be high,
I was able to save on accommodation while enjoying a much more spacious room.
Personally, everything from the breakfast to the reception staff's service
was highly satisfying! Now, let me share my Superior Room review.

A Great Location for Exploring the Main Island

Having gone to Italy for the first time in a while,
I noticed that prices have gone up significantly, partly due to exchange rates.
However, the food prices around the Novotel where I stayed
were much more budget-friendly.

The nearby hypermarket had truly great prices,
and I ended up doing all my last-minute souvenir shopping there.
Balsamic cream, tube tomato paste, tea bags – you name it.
It was also super convenient to carry my shopping back.
I bought some wine and ended my day enjoying it in my room!
➡️ Walking Distance from Novotel Hotel
Bus Stop: Approximately 5 minutes (approx. 25-minute ride to the main island)
Lidl Supermarket: Approximately 3 minutes
Main Dining Area: 10-minute walk

The 'Mister Pizza' I visited had
friendly staff, and the prices for pizza, beer, and more
were significantly cheaper than on Venice's main island.
It's also delicious, so save it and definitely visit!
There's also a Chinese restaurant nearby and plenty of other places to eat.

P.le S. Lorenzo Giustiniani, 16, 30174 Venezia VE, Italy

From the hotel, it's a 4-5 minute walk to the bus stop,
and the ACTV bus will get you to the entrance of the main island in under 25 minutes.
Even when I stayed on the main island, depending on the accommodation's location,
getting around to the sights on the island itself took quite a bit of walking.
Once you get off the bus, transferring to a vaporetta is convenient,
but I simply walked to the Rialto Bridge after getting off the bus.

Superior Room Review

After checking in at reception, I went up to my room,
and it was generally quite quiet.

My Superior Room was approximately 22㎡,
and when I opened the door, it felt surprisingly spacious.
Typically, accommodations in Italy tend to be quite compact,
We could easily spread out two suitcases and get our bags organized.
✔️Room Overview✔️
Superior Room: Up to 3 Guests
Layout: Two Single Beds
Complimentary: 2 Bottles of Water (Provided upon Check-in Only)

With two single beds, even if you're feeling tired from your travels,
you can each enjoy a comfortable night's rest.
The mattress lived up to its many positive reviews, and the bedding was impeccably clean, ensuring a truly restful sleep.

We loved being able to charge our phones right by the bed!
My son brought a book along, and he mentioned how comfy the sofa was for reading.

Across from the bed, you'll find a desk and chair,
plus a convenient stool that's perfect for sorting out your belongings.
There was a TV, but honestly, we didn't even turn it on – there was too much to explore!

The storage cabinet near the entrance was quite spacious, which was fantastic!
I easily tucked away all the clothes I needed for our two-night stay.

Just a heads-up: complimentary bottled water is provided only once per person at check-in.
In Europe, tap water can be hard, so bottled water isn't as readily available or refilled daily like you might find in Southeast Asian hotels. Do keep that in mind!
You'll also find a coffee pot, paper cups, and some tea bags for your convenience.
Confession time: I totally used those paper cups to enjoy some of the local wine I bought! 😉

Just as you'd expect in an Italian bathroom, you'll find a toilet and a bidet
neatly arranged side-by-side.
The bathtub had a shower curtain, which sometimes makes me a bit wary,
but I was pleasantly surprised by how spotlessly clean and well-maintained it was!
I use a shower curtain at home too, and I know they aren't always easy to keep pristine, so I was really impressed with the excellent cleaning!

You'll find refillable dispensers for shampoo, body wash, and more,
plus a generous supply of towels – perfect for a refreshing wash!
From Breakfast to Reception Service, Everything Was Excellent!

There's even a swimming pool here!
I heard it's a popular spot for locals in the summer, though it wasn't open when I visited due to the cooler weather.

The front desk staff were so friendly during check-in!
When I asked for a wine opener, they actually opened the bottle for me directly, citing safety reasons.
Honestly, it was even more convenient not having to open it myself! 😉

🕰️Breakfast Restaurant Hours
Weekdays: 6:00 AM ~ 10:00 AM
Weekends: 6:00 AM ~ 10:30 AM
The breakfast restaurant was not only incredibly clean and inviting,
but also quite spacious, as you'd expect from an Accor brand property!

The breakfast was served buffet-style, and out of all the hotels I stayed at during my Italian adventure,
this one truly offered the most incredible variety!
While it had all the breakfast essentials like fresh fruit and hot dishes,
each category boasted an impressive range of choices.

With a wider variety of desserts, breads, hams, and more,
it felt like there were so many delicious options to choose from.

The croissants were especially delicious,
and I enjoyed them multiple times with my coffee.
Starting the day with such a hearty breakfast,
it felt like I was already saving money! Haha!

Not only was there a wide selection of juices, but the coffee was also incredibly good.
It seems all Italian hotels have fantastic coffee!

Each time we passed through the lobby, we'd see charming Italian gentlemen,
and the staff always greeted us with such kindness.
It was such a comfortable place that we even enjoyed a late-night glass of wine at the first-floor lounge
before heading up to our room.

This has been my review of the Novotel Venezia Mestre Castellina Superior Room,
where my son and I stayed in Venice, Italy.
As an Accor property, both the room quality and service were top-notch,
and I was completely satisfied. Plus, getting to the main island was super convenient,
making it a place I'd love to visit again.
⭐Why I Recommend It⭐
For those looking to ease the burden of main island prices
Newlyweds seeking reasonable accommodation costs
Anyone for whom breakfast quality is important
With family rooms available, it's also perfect for family trips,
so if you're looking to save on Venice accommodation costs, definitely consider booking here.
Even though this was my third visit to Venice, Italy,
it's still a destination I long to return to.
