Affordable Solo Travel Accommodation: Nishitetsu Inn

Tokyo is a safe urban destination, which makes it incredibly popular for solo travelers.
However, for solo travelers, the biggest concern often revolves around accommodation costs.
Due to recent overtourism, hotel prices in Tokyo have skyrocketed, almost matching those in Europe!
Even when I was planning my solo trip to Tokyo this January,
I was really worried about the excessively high accommodation fees.
So today, based on a Saturday-Sunday stay (when accommodation is usually most expensive),
I'm excited to share my review of Nishitetsu Inn, a place that offered surprisingly great value for money!
First, let me introduce you to the basic information about Nishitetsu Inn.

📍 Nishitetsu Inn is a station-front hotel right in front of Nishi-Shinjuku Station, and with a price range of around ~$138 per night, it was quite reasonable compared to Shinjuku's typically high prices.
Also, if you look at its location on the map,
it's close to Shinjuku Station and Nishiguchi Station, making it convenient for traveling to other areas or nearby suburbs.
Just a short walk to the east, you'll find a restaurant district and Kabukicho,
so it's great for grabbing a late-night bite or visiting an izakaya.
Despite that, the hotel is located on a major thoroughfare,
which means the area is incredibly safe!

Next, I'll guide you through the hotel's lobby and check-in process.
Having been remodeled in March 2017,
the lobby boasted a spacious and pristine atmosphere.
Check-in is self-service via a machine, and it's quite straightforward to use.
Plus, if you ever need help, staff members are always on hand right there to assist you.
You can self-select amenities from the lobby,
and razors, toothpaste/toothbrushes, combs, and body towels were all freely available.
It was a slight shame that disposable items like cleansing oil weren't provided.
I recommend bringing your own facial cleansing products.
Next, I'll share my review of the single room I stayed in.
My assigned room was a non-smoking room on the 4th floor,
located along a long corridor.
The room had a simple layout with a bed, a table, and a small sofa,
and it felt quite spacious for one person.
What truly stood out was that even though it was a single room, the bed was a double size,
which seemed plenty big enough for two people,
and it was so plush that I felt like I could fall asleep the moment I lay down.
Having a single-person table and sofa made it super convenient
to grab late-night snacks from the convenience store and enjoy them in the room.
Plus, even though it's designed for one, the table isn't fixed,
so you could easily move it closer to the bed, making it
perfectly usable for two people.
The layout also featured an L-shaped extra space stretching
from the hallway entrance to the inner part of the bed area.
Based on my 24-inch suitcase,
there was plenty of room to open it up anywhere!
The standard in-room amenities included a kettle, cups,
a robe, and a small refrigerator. While bottled water wasn't provided separately, there was a sign stating that the bathroom water was safe for drinking.
And the room view wasn't bad at all! Even on a lower floor,
the view wasn't completely blocked by the opposite buildings,
so I could still enjoy a decent city panorama.
Moving on to the bathroom, it had the typical layout of a Japanese
business hotel bathroom.
It was a compact bathroom, neatly fitting a small bathtub, a sink, and a toilet,
but it definitely had everything one or two people would need.
What truly made me happy was the presence of a bathtub, even if small.
After a busy day of exploring, being able to relax with a half-bath was incredibly satisfying.
The bathroom amenities included body wash, shampoo, and conditioner,
and since I booked for a single person, towels were provided
for exactly one. (Oh, and there's a hairdryer too!)
Lastly, let me walk you through the other convenient facilities
that were available at the hotel.
On some floors, there's a multi-purpose room in the hallway
where you can find various convenient facilities.
You'll find washing machines and dryers, as well as vending machines and microwaves.
And though it's not in the photos, there's also a water dispenser!
So, even if you're planning a longer adventure, you'll be perfectly comfortable!
Plus, they offer luggage storage both before and after check-in. What a lifesaver!
It's all done via self-service lockers,
which means your bags can be tucked away even more securely!
First off, Nishitetsu Inn was sparkling clean from top to bottom,
and even though we stayed on a Saturday—typically the priciest night for hotels—
we were still thrilled with how affordable it was!
What’s more, the room had all the amenities you could need,
and having a bathtub for a relaxing soak was a definite plus.
Its location is fantastic too, right on a main avenue with excellent safety,
and being in the Nishi-Shinjuku station area means getting around is super convenient.
So, if you're seeking a budget-friendly gem in a prime spot,
