While looking for activities and programs to do in Nha Trang, the Vietnam Nha Trang - Phan Rang City Tour really caught my eye.
To be honest, there weren't many reviews,
and it didn't seem very popular, so I didn't have high expectations.
But to get straight to the point: the appetizer wasn't great,
but the main course absolutely won me over!
There's also a tour to Mui Ne, but I've already been there, so this time I opted for a different destination.
Before we dive into the amazing main attractions,
let's quickly skim through the 'appetizers' first.
Apparently, the usual restaurant was closed on the 15th day of the lunar calendar, so we came to a different one.
The menu, however, was still rice noodles.
They kept emphasizing that it would be different from Nha Trang, that it was a purely local restaurant, and the food would be unique... haha.
With all that buildup, I actually thought it might be too local and challenging to eat, but honestly, there wasn't much difference from regular rice noodle soup.
It was delicious!
Why did they build it up so much, haha?
Honestly,
I think this part could have been skipped.
About 10 seconds to a minute after arriving,
I was already thinking it was time to go...
The grapes, however, were delicious.
It gives off a similar vibe to Po Nagar Cham Towers in Nha Trang.
The entrance fee and the cost to ride that car up are the same.
Actually, it's not a very high climb,
so you could probably walk up, but the weather...
It's not paid separately,
it's all included in the Nha Trang - Phan Rang City Tour.
The view from above isn't bad at all,
and if you're interested in history or historical sites, it's definitely worth a visit.
The highlight of the Vietnam Nha Trang - Phan Rang City Tour,
and truly the main event!
In fact, I wanted to introduce this spot in detail so much,
that I kept the previous parts incredibly brief.
We switched to this vehicle.
I saw some other reviews saying it wasn't a real jeep but some weird modified vehicle, and they weren't impressed, but I actually found it really fun!
With open sides all around, you can truly feel the exhilarating speed.
Oh, and before we set off, they ask you:
'Do you prefer fast or slow?'
I said I preferred fast,
and they really drove fast, haha! So thrilling!
If you're looking for this kind of speed and excitement,
this is the seat I recommend.
Because there's nothing in front of you,
when the speed picks up, you get this exhilarating mix of feeling like you might be flung forward, along with the incredible thrill that comes with it....
Before we knew it, we had arrived.
The colors were incredibly beautiful.
Important Note!
But seriously... why did no one mention this in their reviews?
The wind blows incredibly strong, and you get bombarded by a sandstorm!
Long pants are an absolute must...
It hurt so much that I actually screamed 'Ow!' at first.
Unless your skin is made of steel, long pants are definitely a good idea. (Though, I admit... you do eventually get used to it after a while).
Just in case you're wondering how intense it really was, here's a little something to illustrate the point.
Believe it or not, this was when the wind was at its calmest! Haha.
When the sand attack was in full force, taking a picture was simply impossible.
Those grains of sand were relentlessly pelting my calves.
I knew Mui Ne was famous for its White and Red Dunes,
but here, we have more of an ochre (or should I call it 'camel-colored'?) dune, alongside the dazzling White Dunes.
That distant speck you see is actually the magnificent White Dune.
I left the jeep behind and started my solo trek.
(Felt like I took the jeep's 'shot of a lifetime' with that view...)
The colors truly shifted.
For some reason, I felt an irresistible urge to walk all the way to the horizon.
The distant peak was finally in sight.
Walking barefoot here was truly wonderful (yes, I went barefoot!)
But contrary to how it appears, it was quite a distance.
(Looking back, it actually looks pretty far even in the photos...)
In the midst of a sand attack, I admit, a fleeting thought crossed my mind: 'Did I really need to walk this far?'
But in the end, I'm so glad I persevered! It was an incredible experience.
As I crested the dune,
our trusty car was already waiting, having taken a different route.
As I reflect on our Nha Trang Phan Rang city tour while writing this post,
I'm realizing we actually packed quite a lot into our itinerary, haha!
While it's great, part of me wonders if it wouldn't be a bad idea to lighten the schedule a bit.
After a desert adventure like that,
your energy levels are completely depleted.
The intense battle against the sandstorm,
and if I had simply snapped a few photos at designated spots and hopped back in the jeep like most other visitors, I probably would have been fine.
But Rex Fun, always seeking to fully immerse himself in the travel experience,
stubbornly kept walking, even when I probably shouldn't have, haha!
Leaving me completely drained by the end...
Anyway, the restaurant had this lovely vibe,
there was a menu, but my energy was completely zapped, so I happily deferred to our guide to order.
And for a rather unique discovery... they had kimchi!
Me: Kimchi?! Why is there kimchi here, haha?
Guide: I asked for it specifically, haha!
As for the taste,
it tasted like someone tried to make stir-fried kimchi,
stopped halfway through, and added a dash of vinegar, haha!
It might sound a bit odd when I describe it like that, but
it actually had a rather refreshing kick, so it wasn't bad at all! 😄
You thought it was over, didn't you?
Nope!
This is truly the final stop.
Seriously, how many places are we even visiting, haha!
According to our guide,
Nha Trang's night market is pricey because it's frequented by tourists,
but this one is for locals, so it's much more affordable.
Indeed, most of the people here were locals,
and with prices clearly marked, there was little chance of getting ripped off.
35,000 VND per item. That's about ~$1.
It's written right there, plain and simple.

But I wasn't trying to photograph the items themselves...
I took those shots to show how the prices are displayed.
There were bags like these, and some pretty cool, affordable flip-flops too.
Other than that, there wasn't much else to buy, though, haha.
Before we reached the desert,
I was actually thinking I'd write that this tour wasn't really necessary, haha (the previous spots were just... lacking).
But after the main course, my mind totally changed.
This is good! In fact, it's fantastic.
Many travelers head to Mui Ne, which is a popular choice,
but if you don't have a very flexible itinerary, the round trip takes a huge chunk of time...
That's precisely why I chose Phan Rang instead of Mui Ne.
By the time we finished and got back, it was probably around 8 PM.
It's probably best not to plan anything strenuous afterward. You'll be tired!
If you do, maybe just a relaxing massage?
While I mostly focused on capturing the landscapes,
the breathtaking harmony of the blue skies and white sands was just perfect,
meaning you're sure to capture plenty of stunning photos.
Honestly, I think many people go just for those incredible shots, haha.
The itinerary might even be sufficient with just the desert,
but then again, you might feel a tiny bit of regret if you skipped the other spots, right?

No, the admission fee for Po Klong Garai and the cost of the car ride up are all included in the Nha Trang Phan Rang city tour, so you don't need to pay separately. While you can walk up, most people use the car due to the weather.
Phan Rang Night Market is mainly used by locals, so prices are cheaper than Nha Trang Night Market. Most items have prices clearly marked, so there's less chance of being overcharged. For example, one item sells for around 35,000 VND (approximately ~$1).
Mui Ne involves a long round trip, which can be burdensome if your schedule isn't generous. The Phan Rang tour was chosen because its relatively shorter travel time makes it suitable for a limited itinerary.
