Planning a 4-night, 6-day Nha Trang itinerary can feel overwhelming, can't it?
Especially if you're traveling with a big group like our family of 13, there's so much to consider. From transportation and meal choices to unexpected issues like someone feeling under the weather, one hiccup can derail your entire trip.
After personally leading our group of 13 through Nha Trang, I discovered three key principles for successful large family travel:

Flexibility: Plan B is More Important Than Plan A
Based on these principles, I'll share our actual itinerary, how we navigated unexpected challenges, and practical tips for managing a large group.
With such a large group, our Nha Trang itinerary was designed to minimize physical exertion. Traveling with a diverse age range, from teenagers to seniors in their 70s, we found that a relaxed pace was absolutely essential.

Airport & Immigration Tip: Fast Track (Not Recommended)
The first step of any Nha Trang 4-night, 6-day adventure is clearing immigration! Since we had such a big group, we pre-booked Fast Track immigration. But honestly, I wouldn't recommend it.
While we breezed through immigration as the first group, our luggage took over an hour to arrive on the carousel. We ended up waiting just as long, if not longer, than if we'd gone through the regular line. Speeding through immigration doesn't help if you're stuck waiting for bags!
In my opinion, save the Fast Track money and treat yourselves to more delicious food in Nha Trang instead. It's a much more sensible choice.
Transportation Tip: Private Bus is a Must
The best decision we made for our Nha Trang trip was booking a 16-seater private bus.
During a previous family trip to Da Nang, we split into multiple Grab taxis, and due to miscommunication with the drivers, our family ended up scattered in different locations – it was a nightmare!
Having one bus for our entire 4-night, 6-day Nha Trang itinerary made keeping track of everyone incredibly easy. It was also super convenient to announce our next plans to the family while on the move.
If your travel group is 10 or more people, don't stress about hailing multiple Grabs. Seriously consider a private vehicle. There was one instance where we needed two vehicles due to luggage, but since we had pre-booked privately, we could share our routes and schedules in advance, ensuring no one got separated!
Our trip concluded successfully not because our plan was flawless, but because we were flexible enough to adjust our itinerary as situations arose.
Scenario 1: Restaurant Closure
After a city tour, we planned to get some shaved ice, only to find our chosen spot closed.
We had to quickly change our destination, but thankfully, I had already researched another highly-rated spot nearby, The Bing Bing, so all 13 of us could move there without getting lost or wasting time.
Having a backup plan like this is crucial for large family travel! I highly recommend bookmarking several restaurant options when you're initially planning your trip.
Scenario 2: Family Members Getting Sick
A bigger challenge arose mid-trip when some family members started showing symptoms of stomach flu.
My solution was to avoid forcing the original schedule and instead, flexibly change our plans.
We switched our lunch spot to a place offering easily digestible porridge. We then canceled all planned cafe visits and sightseeing, heading straight to the Cam Ranh resort.
We made sure they drank plenty of electrolyte drinks like Rehydrated Water and Pocari Sweat (which we'd wisely packed), and took over-the-counter antidiarrheal medicine. Thankfully, everyone recovered quickly.
This wasn't in the plan, but thanks to our flexible response, we were able to enjoy the rest of our trip without further issues.
For large family trips, having a flexible framework is far more important than a perfectly rigid plan. The person leading the trip needs to have Plan B options ready in their mind and be able to adapt fluidly to situations. That's the secret to a happy trip for everyone.
Of course, it also helps if your family is willing to follow your lead! Our family moved in unison with my spouse and my directions on this trip. Though, I admit, sometimes I had to go into 'dictator mode' for smooth operations. Haha!
