The Cơm Tấm spot I had bookmarked was closed,
but then I caught the tantalizing scent of grilled pork ribs from next door.
That's how we ended up at Cơm Tấm Bảo Linh.

1. Cơm Tấm Bảo Linh: Essential Information

While Cơm Tấm might sound unfamiliar,
it's essentially a Vietnamese-style grilled pork rib rice bowl.
It's made with broken rice, topped with delicious grilled pork ribs.

Operating Hours | 06:00~14:00 |

Bảo Linh opens its doors at 6 AM
and closes at 2 PM.
So, it's best to visit in the morning to avoid a wasted trip if you're planning a late lunch, wouldn't you agree?
The front of the eatery is wide open,
and instead of air conditioning, fans keep the air circulating,
giving it that authentic, local neighborhood vibe.
2. Korean Menu and Ordering Tips
Near the entrance, on display, you'll see the grilled pork ribs,
steamed egg, fried egg, and shredded carrots.
You can visually check what toppings are available before you order.

When we sat down, they handed us a menu with Korean translations – so thoughtful!
The owner was incredibly kind, which was a lovely bonus.
Even if you don't know Vietnamese, ordering is a breeze:
just point to the number of your desired menu item!

Number | Contents | Price |
1~3 | Single grilled pork (rib, belly, or neck) | 30,000 VND |
4~6 | Grilled pork + 1 topping | 35,000 VND |
7~8 | Grilled pork + 2 toppings | 40,000 VND |
9 (Assorted) | Grilled pork + shredded pork skin + steamed egg + fried egg | 45,000 VND |
Add-on | Fried egg | 5,000 VND |
⭐ Just knowing these four menu names
will help you understand the combinations instantly!
Sườn means grilled pork ribs, Bì is shredded pork skin,
Chả is steamed egg, and Ốp La is fried egg.
The longer the name, the more toppings are added, and the price also increases by 5,000 VND (about ~$0) per topping.
We ordered the No. 1 grilled pork rib rice bowl (about ~$1) and the No. 9 assorted platter (about ~$2).

Both dishes together cost 75,000 VND,
which was about ~$3,
and we paid in cash after our meal.
In Korea, that's about the price of a single kimbap roll,
but here we got two hearty grilled pork rib rice bowls!
Talk about amazing value for money, right?
3. Review of Nha Trang's Cơm Tấm (Grilled Pork Rib Rice)
Since it was around 9:40 AM,
we were the only customers seated and eating while waiting for our food.
However, locals picking up takeout and delivery drivers were constantly coming and going.
It really felt like a beloved Cơm Tấm spot consistently sought out by the neighborhood.

Next to the rice bowl topped with grilled pork ribs,
you'll find sides of cucumber, finely chopped green onions, and shredded carrots.
There was also a small amount of pickled vegetables that looked like kimchi,
and it even tasted like kimchi!

⭐ The undisputed star of this place
is, of course, the grilled pork ribs!
These are proper grilled pork ribs, just like the ones in Korea, with the bone still attached
just as I remembered. The sweet and savory
seasoning was perfect with rice.

There was no hint of spices, so it's
perfectly fine even for those who can't stand cilantro.
Rather than typical Nha Trang Com Tam,
it felt more like Korean 'gisa sikdang' (driver's restaurant) pork ribs with rice.
The fried egg and steamed egg with the assorted platter were also good.
I thought it was just a ribs specialty place, but they do eggs well too!

There was also a topping I hadn't seen before, shredded pork skin (Bì) coated in powder,
which was surprisingly delicious.
After trying both, if it's your first time,
I recommend the Assorted Platter #9.
For just 15,000 VND (~$1) more than #1,
you can taste all the toppings on one plate.

The accompanying soup had a subtly sweet taste, almost like seaweed soup with a touch of sugar,
which paired wonderfully with the savory ribs.

⭐ Here's a tip to make Com Tam Bao Linh even more delicious!
Try mixing the chopped garlic, chili, and fish sauce available on the table to create your own dipping sauce. Dipping the ribs in it kept every bite exciting until the very end.

It's also great to sprinkle a little on your rice.
The saltiness of the fish sauce and the spiciness of the chili balance out the sweet seasoning, bringing out an amazing umami flavor.
Alternating bites of ribs and spoonfuls of rice with the sauce, my stomach, which had been a bit unsatisfied by breakfast,
was now completely full and content.
4. Concluding the Journey
Perhaps because it was an unplanned stop,
it turned out to be an even more memorable breakfast.
I was a little nervous since it was a local Vietnamese restaurant,
but thanks to the Korean menu and the familiar taste of pork ribs,
I ate comfortably and left satisfied.
If you want to experience the local vibe but are hesitant about strong spices,
I highly recommend Com Tam Bao Linh for breakfast.

For first-time visitors, we recommend the Combo Menu #9. For just 15,000 VND (about ~$1) more than the Pork Rib Rice #1, you can enjoy all toppings on one plate, including ribs, shredded pork skin (Bì), steamed egg meatloaf (Chả), and a fried egg (Ốp La).
