I've traveled to Vietnam multiple times, and on my first visit, I also thought I'd just rely on Grab without booking anything in advance.
But most flights to Vietnam arrive late at night or in the early morning, right? When I exited the gate late at night, I was swarmed by aggressive taxi touts, and it took forever to hail a Grab.

During peak season, at night, or on rainy days, it's common for the fare to exceed ~$20.
