A Look Inside Hanok Dakgalbi
Finding Gapyeong Hanok Dakgalbi was a breeze, situated right across from the Nami Island ferry terminal!
The restaurant itself is incredibly spacious and welcoming. With seating for up to 160 guests, it truly is expansive!
While exploring the restaurant, I noticed something truly heartwarming! For over a decade, since 2016, Hanok Dakgalbi has been a proud supporter of organizations like World Vision, the Red Cross, UNICEF, and welfare centers for the disabled. Knowing that a portion of my meal goes towards such noble causes made the delicious dakgalbi taste even better – it filled me with a sense of pride!

While this spot is renowned as a top Gapyeong Dakgalbi restaurant, famous for its <Iron Plate Chuncheon Dakgalbi>!
They also offer other fantastic dishes that pair perfectly with dakgalbi, such as Buckwheat Noodles (Makguksu) and Acorn Jelly (Dotori Muk). You can check out the full menu in the photos!
However, since I was on a Gapyeong getaway, I decided to get their Charcoal Grilled Soy Sauce Dakgalbi for takeout to enjoy at my pension's BBQ.
At ~$28 for 2.2 pounds (1kg), both the portion and the price were a definite win! 👍
My Honest Review
The Charcoal Grilled Soy Sauce Dakgalbi I got for takeout from Gapyeong's Hanok Dakgalbi came neatly divided into two portions. They even included an ice pack – such a thoughtful touch!
Each pack contained about five pieces of chicken, which was more than enough for two people to have a satisfying meal. Following the owner's advice, I flipped the chicken frequently and made small cuts into the bone areas with scissors to ensure it cooked thoroughly and got that perfect crispy char.
The aroma while grilling was absolutely divine! The savory and sweet soy sauce base had a subtle hint of curry, making my mouth water with anticipation throughout the entire cooking process.
This dakgalbi is versatile enough to be a fantastic side dish for rice, but honestly, it’s incredible on its own. It's so tender, juicy, and sweet that it's a crowd-pleaser anyone will love!
With its tender, moist texture and that irresistible sweet and salty marinade, this dakgalbi is simply a flavor explosion. Truly a dish that can't go wrong!
