Hey there, fellow travelers! I'm Slseurling, your go-to travel influencer!
Recently, I took a trip to Daegu with family and friends, and our accommodation just happened to be in Dongindong. What luck! The famous Dongindong Jjimgalbi Alley was only a 5-minute walk from our stay, so naturally, we had to try Daegu's renowned Jjimgalbi.
I was a bit worried about bringing the kids since Daegu Jjimgalbi is known for its spice, but Nagyung Jjimgalbi came to the rescue with a fantastic kids' menu! We had such a satisfying experience, and I'm excited to share all the details.
Nagyung Jjimgalbi: A Daegu Dongindong Must-Try |

2. Wait Times & Interior |
3. Kids' Jjimgalbi & Menu Review |
4. Takeout & Delivery Orders |
I'll be walking you through my review of Nagyung Jjimgalbi, a top Daegu Dongindong restaurant, following the order above.
1. Location & Parking
📍 Nagyung Jjimgalbi Main Branch
9-17 Dongdeok-ro 36-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu
Located right at the entrance of Dongindong Jjimgalbi Alley, Nagyung Jjimgalbi is incredibly popular, having been featured on numerous TV shows and visited by many celebrities.

Parking is available directly in front of Nagyung Jjimgalbi, but it's limited to about 3-4 cars.
Since our hotel was nearby, we opted to walk, but I imagine parking could be a challenge during peak meal times.
2. Wait Times & Interior

We arrived at Nagyung Jjimgalbi around noon. The first floor was almost full, so we were guided to the second floor. The tables turn over pretty quickly, so even if there's a wait, you likely won't be standing around for long.
I always make a point to observe the age range of patrons when I visit a restaurant, and at Nagyung Jjimgalbi, it was truly diverse, from young kids to seniors. That's always a sign of a real local gem that appeals to everyone, and it made me even more excited to try their Jjimgalbi!
3. Kids' Jjimgalbi & Menu Review

Here's a look at Nagyung Jjimgalbi's menu. They offer four main dishes: Jjimgalbi, Hanwoo (Korean Beef) Jjimgalbi, Beef Stew, and Kids' Jjimgalbi. The best part? You can adjust the spice level of your Jjimgalbi!
Since we were with kids, we ordered the soy-sauce flavored Kids' Jjimgalbi and a mild-spicy Jjimgalbi for the adults.

This is the Kids' Jjimgalbi. We ordered one portion, and it costs the same as the adult Jjimgalbi, about ~$15.
A signature characteristic of Dongindong Jjimgalbi is the generous amount of garlic. Knowing it might be too intense for little ones, we specifically requested less garlic for the kids' portion when ordering!
It had a sweet and savory galbi-jjim flavor, and all three kids devoured it! They even asked for more meat because the ribs were so tender and the taste was perfect for them. (We visited with a 5-year-old and a 6-year-old).

For the adults, we ordered the mild Jjimgalbi. As expected, it came with a generous mound of garlic, and the mild version truly wasn't spicy at all. For reference, I'd compare the heat level to a very mild instant ramen – barely any kick!

Since it's Jjimgalbi, it came with plenty of fresh greens for wrapping. It was absolutely delicious when wrapped in lettuce! Even though the spice level was mild, the flavor itself was robust and rich. Dongindong Jjimgalbi is definitely best enjoyed with a bowl of rice.

We enjoyed it with rice, in lettuce wraps, and even just the meat on its own. The lack of intense spice made it easy to savor every bite. If it had been too spicy, I would have been sweating buckets, but instead, we enjoyed a comfortable and delicious Jjimgalbi meal.
4. Takeout & Delivery Orders

You can order Nagyung Jjimgalbi for takeout or delivery by calling them directly.
However, delivery orders incur a ~$3 shipping fee and require a minimum order of two portions.
If direct delivery feels like too much hassle, I can also recommend spicy galbi-jjim from other online retailers. One popular option has over 6,600 reviews! It's made with Korean pork galbi (not beef) and comes in a generous 1.5-pound (700g) portion.
For beef galbi-jjim, I recommend a place with over 1,900 reviews! As someone who loves Dongindong Jjimgalbi, I've ordered from them multiple times, and the taste is remarkably similar to restaurant quality – truly excellent value!
Yes, you can request to omit garlic when ordering the children's Jjim-galbi at Nakyeong Jjim-galbi. The price for one serving of children's Jjim-galbi is ~$15, which is the same as the adult Jjim-galbi.
There is parking available for about 3-4 cars in front of the Nakyeong Jjim-galbi main branch restaurant. However, it's advisable to note that parking might be difficult during peak meal times.
For Nakyeong Jjim-galbi home delivery, you must order a minimum of 2 servings. A separate delivery fee of ~$3 will be charged.
