Mt. Fuji Bus Tour Review 2026: Tokyo Day Trip
Skip the hassle of trains and car rentals. Here is a complete guide to the best Mt. Fuji bus tour from Tokyo, covering 5 iconic spots for under $30.

Having traveled to Tokyo several times,
I really wanted to venture out of the city and see Mount Fuji with my own eyes.
After comparing public transit with renting a car,
I ultimately decided on a Tokyo Mount Fuji bus tour.
I was able to visit 5 iconic Mount Fuji spots in a single day,
and since the cost was only in the ~$27 range, it was way more reasonable than I expected!
I'll share a detailed review of the Tokyo day tour price, meeting points, and itinerary,
along with some handy discount booking tips!
1. Comparing Tokyo Mount Fuji Tours

Trying to visit Mount Fuji viewing spots via public transit
takes over 2 hours each way,
and the transportation costs quickly add up.
Even after arriving at Lake Kawaguchiko, getting around between attractions
is quite tricky. Without renting a car,
visiting more than two spots in a single day is highly unrealistic.
→ So, I simply chose the Tokyo bus tour!

✅ My Criteria for Choosing a Tokyo Mount Fuji Tour ✅
Must visit at least 3 famous landmarks
and have no forced, unnecessary shopping stops
(I really wanted to skip the outlet malls).
I chose an itinerary that visits Oshino Hakkai, Kawaguchiko Oishi Park,
Hikawa Clock Shop, Lawson Kawaguchiko,
and Arakurayama Sengen Park.
Among all the options, the GOGODAY travel agency fit my criteria perfectly.

2. Meeting Points

The Tokyo Mount Fuji day tour
departs from two convenient locations: Tokyo Station and Shinjuku Station.
1) Tokyo Station: 8:00 AM at the Marunouchi South Exit
2) Shinjuku Station: 8:30 AM in front of Tokyo Mode Gakuen
You can just choose the spot closest to your accommodation. The day before departure,
you'll receive an email with the final meeting point and vehicle details.
Once you arrive, just look for the guide
holding a yellow GOGODAY flag!

I was a bit worried about finding the bus in an unfamiliar place,
but the flag was super easy to spot,
and there were plenty of fellow travelers, so joining the group was a breeze.
It might be a while before you can access a restroom during the ride,
so it's a good idea to use one before you head out.
There are restrooms inside Tokyo Station,
and around the KITTE Marunouchi building as well.
3. Tokyo Day Tour Review

It takes about 2 and a half hours by car to reach the first sightseeing spot.
After driving out of the bustling city and deep into the Tokyo suburbs,
Mount Fuji finally began to appear outside the window.
Seeing the mountain I had only ever seen in photos
gradually drawing closer made my heart flutter with excitement!

While we were on the move, our guide shared fascinating stories about the attractions,
and even handed out little gifts through a fun quiz!
With all the commentary and trivia, the travel time
flew by much faster than I expected.
❗ Our guide was a Japanese local who spoke fluent Korean.
Their Korean was so natural that at first,
I wondered if they were actually Korean! They also responded to KakaoTalk messages
super fast, which kept things stress-free the entire trip.

1) Oshino Hakkai
This is a peaceful village home to eight ponds
fed by Mount Fuji's melting snow.
The traditional Japanese houses blend beautifully with the crystal-clear ponds,
and there are plenty of little food stalls and souvenir shops to explore.
I was worried that our visiting time might feel a bit rushed,
but we had more than enough time to grab some dango and browse for souvenirs.
Tip: The strawberry matcha is seriously delicious...
Be sure to give it a taste and grab some as a souvenir!

We had lunch at a buffet recommended by our guide.
They had familiar favorites like gimbap, curry, and various fried foods,
and you could even grill your own Wagyu beef!
Since there was no waiting and the restrooms were sparkling clean,
it seemed like a wonderful option
for a family trip to Tokyo with parents.

2) Lawson Kawaguchiko Station
This is the famous spot where Mount Fuji looms majestically right behind the convenience store.
We grabbed some snacks inside and took a few photos outside—
it definitely served up those classic, dreamy Japan travel vibes!

3) Kawaguchiko Oishi Park
This is the perfect spot to capture both the lake and Mount Fuji in a single frame.
Depending on the season, different flowers like nemophila, lavender, and cosmos
burst into full bloom,
so the atmosphere changes beautifully depending on when you visit.

I highly recommend grabbing an ice cream cone here!
The ice cream was 500 yen (~$3),
with a variety of delicious flavors like grape, blueberry, and shine muscat.
❗ If you answer the quiz correctly, the guide might even buy you one!
Tip: The summer sun can be intense in August,
so it's a good idea to pack a hat, a parasol, and some bottled water.

4) Hikawa Clock Shop
Rather than being a tourist facility, this spot is purely for that perfect photo op.
It's famous for the composition of Mount Fuji towering massively at the end of an ordinary street,
and standing there in person, the mountain felt
so much larger and more grand than it does in photos!

5) Sengen Park
This was the spot I was looking forward to the most on this tour.
It's the ultimate viewpoint where you can capture Mount Fuji
alongside the iconic five-story Chureito Pagoda.
You have to climb stairs for about 15 minutes to reach the observation deck,
so wearing comfortable sneakers is highly recommended.

On the way up, I kept cursing my absolute lack of stamina, but...
the moment I saw the view unfolding from the top,
all that exhaustion instantly melted away! 😊😊
I got to capture Mount Fuji and Chureito Pagoda in a single frame,
and the mountain stayed in sight all the way down, so I couldn't stop snapping photos.

After wrapping up our five-stop sightseeing adventure,
we took about a 2-hour drive back to Tokyo Station.
We arrived at Marunouchi Plaza around 5:45 PM!
We had time to snap some photos nearby
and even grabbed Moheji Monjayaki for dinner.
I'm usually not a fan of rushed bus tours,
but since this one focused on photo-taking and casual strolls, it felt surprisingly relaxed.
Traveling in a super air-conditioned bus also
made it so much easier on my energy levels.
✔ Anyone who wants to see Mount Fuji at least once
✔ Anyone who wants to explore the highlights in just one day
✔ Anyone who finds renting a car and driving a bit too stressful
This is a day tour from Tokyo that I highly recommend to all of the above!
Popular dates can sell out incredibly fast,
so if your travel dates are set,
make sure to check availability in advance!
