The exterior features a charming, cozy mountain cabin aesthetic. Since it’s located right next to Lake Louise Village, walking to the local market, liquor store, and restaurants was incredibly easy.

Lobby & Check-In

The check-in process was seamless, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. They also offer complimentary luggage storage after check-out if you want to hit the trails one last time.

Since we planned on doing some heavy hiking, we asked if they rented out bear spray, but unfortunately, they do not. Make sure to purchase or rent yours in Banff town beforehand!

The Room

Our room was located in a separate building away from the main lobby. It was incredibly spacious, featuring a comfortable sofa and plenty of open floor space. We had no issues fully opening two large suitcases with room to spare! 👍

The room featured a large work desk and came fully equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and kettle. After exhausting hikes, having these in-room amenities was a lifesaver! 😂

It was perfect for preparing quick snacks and meals we bought from the local market.

The bathroom was clean, modern, and fully stocked with all the essential bath amenities.

We stayed on the first floor, which offered a beautiful, calming forest view. It was incredibly peaceful, though we kept the curtains drawn most of the time to maintain privacy from passing guests.

Breakfast

The cozy breakfast room is located near the lobby. On our first morning, we booked an incredibly early shuttle to catch the sunrise at Lake Louise.

Since the shuttle departure was well before breakfast service started, we asked the staff if we could pack our breakfast to go. To our delight, they offer breakfast take-out boxes! Simply ask the staff, and they will provide you with containers to pack your breakfast the evening before.

This is an absolute game-changer for hikers and sunrise chasers!

They offer a great selection of simple, classic breakfast items to fuel your day.

If you request a to-go breakfast, they provide these handy boxes so you can easily pack up your morning meal and head out early!

On our second day, we were already familiar with the shuttle routine, so we enjoyed a quick sit-down breakfast in the dining room before heading out. ☕

Remember, Moraine Lake is only accessible via the official shuttle. While you can technically drive to Lake Louise, parking is extremely competitive and expensive. We highly recommend taking the shuttle to save yourself the stress!

Nearby Shops & Amenities

Having Lake Louise Village so close by was incredibly convenient. It features a grocery market and a liquor store, making it super easy to stock up on trail snacks and drinks. There are also a few local restaurants in the village for a cozy dinner.

Ending our adventurous days with a cold craft beer in our room was the absolute best. 🍻

If you are planning an itinerary around Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, we cannot recommend Mountaineer Lodge enough. It’s cozy, convenient, and offers the absolute best location for exploring Banff’s most iconic lakes! 😗
