Planning a Mont Saint-Michel day trip from Paris? This 2026 guide covers everything, from choosing the best tour to snagging discounts. Get ready for an unforgettable journey!

Before I even started planning my trip to Paris, France,
there was one place I absolutely knew I had to visit:
Mont Saint-Michel.
I opted for a day tour to Mont Saint-Michel, and I've put together some essential tips you'll want to know before your visit, updated as of August 2026.
If you read to the end, you'll find some insider tips and even a way to book your tour for a better price than I did, so make sure to grab those discount codes!
Getting to Mont Saint-Michel from Paris

While it's possible to visit Mont Saint-Michel using trains and buses without a tour,
it's a journey that takes over 4 hours one-way, meaning more than 8 hours round-trip.
If you're planning an overnight stay near Mont Saint-Michel, that might be a viable option. However, for a day trip, it's a route I wouldn't strongly recommend.
Plus, given that safety in France isn't always perfect, I was concerned about potential issues during transfers, so we ruled out public transport from the start.
So, what was our alternative?
The Mont Saint-Michel day tour we chose!
Listening to our guide's explanations as we explored not only enriched our knowledge but also allowed us to relax and even catch some sleep during the long drives. That's why I highly recommend choosing a tour.
Of course, it's a long day, starting early in the morning and ending late at night, so you might feel a bit tired. But as a traveler venturing all the way to Europe, I believe it's the best use of your limited time :)
Comparing Mont Saint-Michel Tours
Day tours to Mont Saint-Michel typically cost around ~$138, so I put a lot of effort into comparing different options.

The most well-known tour companies are Europe Walk, Easy Go, and Indigo Travel. My main considerations were the tour itinerary and recent reviews. Of course, value for money was also key.
✔️ Tours that only visit Mont Saint-Michel + Honfleur
✔️ Actual user reviews (most recent)
✔️ Travel by large coach bus

Other tours might include additional stops like Étretat (with its famous Elephant Rock) and Giverny, in addition to Mont Saint-Michel and Honfleur.
However, these extra stops mean more travel time, and even with a drop-off service, arriving back in Paris in the wee hours of the morning seemed incredibly exhausting. So, I decided to skip those options.
The itinerary for those extended tours is very tight, and I felt they would require at least two drivers. For that reason, I also excluded tours that used small vans.
After looking at tours that were popular and had excellent reviews, we chose Indigo Travel.
While other tours were priced around ~$138, Indigo Travel was around ~$104, offering great value for money.

Meeting early in the morning for the long journey from Paris to Mont Saint-Michel,
the time flew by as we listened to our guide's fascinating stories and enjoyed some much-needed sleep. Before we knew it, we had arrived at our destination!

Our first stop was Mont Saint-Michel.
Before COVID, Mont Saint-Michel tours often included a night view. However, since the pandemic, the beautiful night illuminations haven't been consistently lit, which is why we visited it first during the day.

This is a photo of Mont Saint-Michel's night view from before COVID.
The night view here is truly magical, and it's such a shame it's not always available now...

Exploring the interior of the abbey with our guide, listening to the historical context and fascinating stories, felt incredibly enriching. It was like gaining a deeper understanding of the place with every step.
While Mont Saint-Michel itself isn't massive in terms of attractions, the added explanations made the experience truly special :)

After about two hours of driving, we arrived in the charming port city of Honfleur!
Thanks to our guide's vivid storytelling, the entire town felt like a scene straight out of a storybook.

The colorful, narrow, and tall harbor buildings reflected in the water created picture-perfect moments everywhere you looked!

During our free time, we explored the quaint shops and even enjoyed a glass of local apple cider, making the most of our relaxed moments.

We also had a delightful dinner, complete with delicious mussels, at a restaurant recommended by our guide, which was incredibly satisfying.
On the drive back to Paris, our guide shared detailed recommendations for the best restaurants in the city and must-buy souvenirs. It was a truly satisfying tour from start to finish.
We arrived back in Paris around 10:40 PM.
While the subway was still running at that hour, we were concerned about safety, so we had pre-booked a drop-off service to get safely back to our accommodation :)
