Mont Saint-Michel Day Trip from Paris: 2026 Tour Review
Dreaming of Mont Saint-Michel? Find out how to make your 2026 day trip from Paris seamless and unforgettable, including a stop in picturesque Honfleur. Read my full tour review!
When you're planning your Paris itinerary,
you might wonder if you should spend a day exploring a nearby destination.
Among the options, Mont Saint-Michel can be a particularly tricky one to plan for.
That's because direct transportation isn't readily available,
and after much deliberation, I decided to go with a tour.
To cut to the chase, I think going on a tour is the perfect solution! Haha.
Today, I'll be sharing how to get to Mont Saint-Michel from Paris,
the Mont Saint-Michel tour itinerary I personally booked and paid for,
and my review of the day trip tour.
(Right now, there's a 5% discount coupon available, making it even more affordable
to book, and I'll explain how to get it in this post!)
1. How to get to Mont Saint-Michel, a Day Trip from Paris

📌 How to get to Mont Saint-Michel from Paris
1) Train → Bus
2) Bus → Bus
Upon arriving at Mont Saint-Michel, you'll need to use the free shuttle bus
from the parking lot to the abbey itself to reach Mont Saint-Michel.
Please note that there is no train station in Mont Saint-Michel.
You can take a train to nearby Pontorson and then a bus from there,
or take a bus from the beginning, but there are no direct routes.

📍 Mont Saint-Michel

I was worried about missing the last train or bus if I traveled independently,
so after some thought, I booked a day tour.
While a day trip to Mont Saint-Michel might be doable on your own,
I thought it would be even better to see Honfleur while I was out of the city,
so I chose a tour that included Honfleur.
2. Indigod Travel Mont Saint-Michel Day Trip Tour Itinerary

I used Indigod Travel's
Mont Saint-Michel & Honfleur Essential Tour.
📌 Indigod Travel Mont Saint-Michel Tour Itinerary Summary
· Meeting: In front of Exit 1 of Ternes Station, Subway Line 2
· Mont Saint-Michel Free Time: Approx. 3 hours 30 minutes
· Honfleur Free Time: Approx. 2 hours 30 minutes
· Lunch & Dinner: Free choice (recommendation list provided)
· Tour Ends: 10:30 PM, at the same meeting point
· Total Duration: 16 hours 30 minutes

Let me first tell you why I chose Indigod Travel's Mont Saint-Michel
Tour among the various options:
1) All guides are full-time employees: No "guide lottery" here!
2) Over 6,000 reviews with a 4.8 rating
I checked recent reviews, and they're all great!
3) Plenty of free time
The tour visits two places, Mont Saint-Michel and Honfleur,
with approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes of free time at Mont Saint-Michel
and approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes of free time at Honfleur.

Often, when you go on day trips from Paris,
it can be quite rushed, with just enough time to get off the bus, snap a few photos,
and then quickly get back on.
Since this tour only focuses on two key destinations,
each place offers ample free time.
At Mont Saint-Michel, I had enough time to climb up to the abbey, explore the charming alleyways,
and even seek out some great photo spots.
It's not a strenuous itinerary,
so I think it would be perfect for a trip with parents too.

For Honfleur, 2 hours and 30 minutes was enough time
since the town itself is quite small.
When I actually visited, it was a charming little harbor town,
and I loved its unique atmosphere. With generous free time,
I enjoyed wandering through all the little alleyways even more.

Lunch and dinner are free choice.
The guide provides a list of recommendations,
so you can pick and choose what you'd like to eat!
If you're tied to group meals,
you have to eat a fixed menu at a designated restaurant,
but it was so convenient not to have those restrictions.
Also, they gave us a list, so I didn't have to search for anything myself,
which felt really convenient too.
(The guide also shared other travel tips, among other things!)

In Honfleur, you can also enjoy a free cider tasting.
(It's apple cider from the Normandy region.)
The guide also gave us general recommendations for souvenirs to buy and shops,
which I personally found very satisfying. Haha.
For your reference, apple cider (cidre), milk jam,
and Calvados are regional specialties of Normandy.
Currently, there's a 5% discount coupon for the Mont Saint-Michel tour, so
you can book it for about ~$6 cheaper.
If you add a credit card payment discount, the perceived price goes down even further.

Also, traveling to Mont Saint-Michel by dedicated bus means
it's a long-distance tour, taking over 4 hours, so
I was worried the travel time might be boring.
However, during the journey, we listened to the guide's explanations through receivers.
They played songs and shared stories,
running it almost like a radio show segment.
Thanks to this, the long travel time, covering 800km round trip,
was surprisingly not boring at all.
Since it's a tour using a dedicated vehicle, the bus was large and comfortable, so
I was able to go without any motion sickness!
(There's a USB port, so you can charge your devices.
It might be a good idea to bring a charging cable.)
3. Mont Saint-Michel Weather, Night View, and What to Wear

The day I visited, the sky was completely overcast, but
this kind of weather actually suited Mont Saint-Michel perfectly.
Under the gray sky, the abbey looked even more medieval.
Even from a distance, it felt magnificent,
and it was completely different from seeing it in pictures.
I highly recommend taking a day out of your schedule to visit.

It was low tide, so the vast mudflats around the abbey were exposed,
and this view was great because you can't see it during high tide.
If you search for Mont Saint-Michel,
you'll often see dazzling night view photos
where the entire abbey glows golden.

That golden night view is now a bit harder to see!
They reduced the night lighting starting in 2022.

One more thing regarding Mont Saint-Michel's weather:
Mont Saint-Michel is a rocky island rising from the sea, so
the wind is quite strong.
I recommend bringing one or two warming items,
like a scarf or hand warmers.
4. Mont Saint-Michel Tour Price & Abbey Entrance Fee

The monastery entrance fee is not included in the tour price.
Only those who wish to enter purchase tickets on-site.
Many people get confused here, but
the village of Mont Saint-Michel itself is free.
Walking through the alleyways within the ramparts and taking photos won't cost you a thing~

Tickets are only required to enter the abbey at the very top.
📌 Mont Saint-Michel Abbey Entrance Fee
Peak Season (April 1st ~ September 30th): 16 Euros
Off-Peak Season (October 1st ~ March 31st): 13 Euros
Entry is free for those under 18!
I went inside the abbey,
but those who didn't go in
spent that time exploring the village and photo spots.

While entry is optional, since you've made it all the way to Mont Saint-Michel,
I definitely recommend stepping inside the abbey! 😁
I was a bit worried about the large group size,
but the spacious bus was actually great for the long journey.
Our experienced guide also did an excellent job leading us.
So, we had a smooth and comfortable trip.
I actually debated whether to go since it was winter,
but I'm so glad I did!
If I hadn't gone, I'm sure I would have regretted it later.
The drop-off point after the tour is the same place where we met.
After the tour, you can travel individually,
or you can pre-book a hotel drop-off service.
Hotel drop-off is a paid service,
and costs 15 Euros per person for Zones 1 and 2,
starting from 30 Euros per person for Zone 3.
Since the tour ends at 10:30 PM,
it's a good idea for those staying in the outskirts to calculate the cost beforehand.
(For Zone 3 or higher, or groups of 2+ people, Uber might be a more affordable option.)
✔ Recommended for those who want to visit Paris's surroundings but find planning overwhelming.
✔ Recommended for those who want to see both Mont Saint-Michel and Honfleur in one day.
✔ Recommended for those looking for a tour with plenty of free time.
It's an early start and a late finish,
so I recommend keeping your schedule flexible the next day.
However, traveling by dedicated bus was comfortable,
and with ample free time, it didn't feel like an overly strenuous tour.
Excluding travel time, it's not a tough trip at all.
It's even perfectly suitable for traveling with parents! Haha.
There's a 5% discount coupon available right now, so if you're planning a trip to Paris,
enter your travel dates and check the Mont Saint-Michel tour price!
