MOCO Museum Barcelona Review: Modern Art Steps from Picasso

The MOCO Museum, Barcelona's Museum of Modern Contemporary Art,

is just a minute's walk from the Picasso Museum,

making it a perfect complementary stop if you're visiting Picasso's masterpieces.

However, compared to other museums in Barcelona, MOCO has relatively fewer reviews,

so I understand why some of you might be hesitant to visit.

The MOCO Museum of Modern Contemporary Art, Barcelona,

originally started in Amsterdam.

Today, it also has branches in Barcelona and London.

The MOCO Museum is located in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona,

and its proximity to the Picasso Museum (just a 1-minute walk!) makes it incredibly accessible.

It's so close, it would be a shame to just walk past it!

MOCO features works by artists familiar to many, such as Banksy, Keith Haring, and KAWS.

You can explore the museum thoroughly in about 30 minutes to an hour.

It's like a small museum that's packed with incredible art.

While you can buy tickets on-site, booking through the official website is much cheaper

(I went impulsively and ended up paying €20...)

My Actual Visit Review

Now, for my actual review of Moco Museum!

If you're looking for a fresh vibe that's different from the usual Barcelona travel atmosphere,

a fresh feeling,

I highly recommend Moco Museum Barcelona.

It's located near the Picasso Museum,

but once you step into MOCO, the atmosphere changes dramatically.

When you travel around Barcelona,

you often see many profound works by masters like Gaudí and Picasso,

but this place has a vibrant, popping feel that was definitely refreshing.

It's like eating a hamburger after having Korean food continuously.

In particular, Damien Hirst's <Sacred Heart>

was incredibly intricate when seen in person, I stared at it for ages.

Works by masters are great, but contemporary artists' works are also captivating.

That famous Banksy piece, <Girl with Balloon>

The one at MOCO Museum is said to have been

specially painted by Banksy for the exhibition.

Beyond works by renowned artists,

there were also creative installations,

so there was never a dull moment during the visit.

Even the exit path felt like an amusement park at

Moco Museum Barcelona.

Honestly, while it might not be a primary destination on its own,

it's not as vast as the Picasso Museum,

and its location in the Gothic Quarter is convenient,

so I recommend visiting it along with the Picasso Museum Barcelona :)
