A Stay That Nailed Both Location and Value for Money
in Menjangan, Bali
Mimpi Resort

My accommodation hunt for Menjangan was quite an adventure!
It took a while to find the perfect spot.
As a quiet region nestled in Bali's northwest,
unlike popular spots like Ubud, Seminyak, or Jimbaran,
accommodation choices weren't exactly abundant.
What's more, the surrounding infrastructure seemed sparse,
and many of the accommodations I found looked a bit dated,
which made me quite hesitant to book.
Initially, Menjangan Dynasty Resort really caught my eye.
Its glamping vibe and ocean views were absolutely gorgeous,
and I almost booked it on the spot.
However, at the time of my visit, it was more than ~$104
per night, which felt a little pricey for my budget!

I also looked into
NusaBay Menjangan
Naya Gawana Resort & Spa
but they were either fully booked or
their facilities just didn't quite appeal to me.
So, in the end, Mimpi Resort became my chosen stay!
In the end, I spent a total of 5 days there,
and while there were a few minor downsides, to be honest,
my primary goal was snorkeling and diving,
and Mimpi Resort was perfectly located near the pier, plus it offered great value at around ~$55 per night,
making it a fantastic choice for a Menjangan stay.

Location

Compared to Amed, where I was just before Menjangan,
this area feels much more rural and secluded!
I chose Mimpi Resort not just for its attractive price, but primarily
for its unbeatable proximity to the pier.
The resort and pier are practically next door to each other,
making it incredibly convenient to hop on a boat for snorkeling or freediving tours.

Since I was practically diving every single day during my Menjangan stay,
having a convenient tour route was paramount.
Mimpi Resort was perfect for this, making boat embarkation and disembarkation a breeze.
Not only private tours, but also many local join-in tours
kick off from this very pier nearby.
Mimpi Resort and Menjangan Dynasty Resort are practically neighbors,
and boats often pass by both resorts before heading to Menjangan Island!

While Menjangan doesn't boast a bustling town center,
a quick 5-10 minute drive will take you to Pemuteran, where you can find restaurants, cafes, and even do some grocery shopping.
It was perfect for morning water adventures, then heading out in the afternoon
for a coffee break or an early dinner.

I rented a scooter via WhatsApp,
and navigating to Pemuteran was a breeze.
Just a heads-up: many of the roads are a bit bumpy,
so it's best to drive carefully.
Patio Room

The entrance is always manned by staff,
so security is reassuringly good.
The landscaping is beautifully maintained, and the staff are
incredibly friendly. I spent 5 days there and
never once had an unpleasant experience!

I booked the Patio Room, which is their most basic room type.
Each room comes with a big sofa right outside,
but beware, there were quite a few mosquitoes, so staying out there all day
was a bit challenging.

Once you step inside, you'll find the room is quite spacious!
A canopy mosquito net is set up high,
and since Mimpi Resort is an eco-friendly accommodation,
you might encounter a mosquito or two flying around.
But if you cover yourself from head to toe when you sleep,
you can sleep soundly at night without worrying about bites.

One minor drawback is that the room interior is
a bit on the darker side! Even with all the lights on,
it didn't feel very bright.

The most unique part was the bathroom!
You can shower outdoors, but since it's a rain shower,
it was a slight shame that the shower filter
couldn't be replaced!

It was so outdoorsy that it took some getting used to at first,
but after a few days, it felt completely natural~

At night, the stars were incredibly clear,
making it perfect for healing and relaxation.
Hot Springs
Hot Spring

The reason Menjangan Mimpi Resort is famous
is for something specific: it's a place where you can enjoy hot springs!
You might think, 'Hot water in hot weather?'
but after playing in the pool,
there are times when you subtly crave a warm soak
to relax your body!

It's a popular spot because of the unique charm
of enjoying hot springs even in warm weather. Guests can use them for free,
and
non-guests can purchase a day-use ticket
to use the facilities.

If you're a guest, it's a great idea to enjoy them casually
once or twice during your stay!

Beyond the hot springs, there were also about two swimming pools,
and among them, the mangrove forest view was particularly impressive.
The water temperature was on the cooler side,
and the depth ranged from shallow areas up to about 3 meters,
making it great for splashing around and swimming.

In addition to the hot springs and pools, there were well-equipped
ancillary facilities like a spa and a souvenir shop.

On the way to the restaurant,
there's also a diving shop operating within the resort,
so you can book and use it whenever you need a snorkeling tour
or scuba diving.

Since it's a resort facility,
the prices are a bit higher compared to local operators!
Breakfast

Breakfast can be enjoyed
at the restaurant right next to the pier.
On the first day, I ordered à la carte
for breakfast, but from the second day onwards,
it was only available as a buffet.

You can enjoy breakfast with a lake-like
sea view towards Menjangan.
It feels a bit like a boat parking lot,
but even that view was absolutely gorgeous~

During my stay, I absolutely loved
this quiet yet healing atmosphere.

I was quite worried that there might not be
enough infrastructure,
but after actually spending five days
at Mimpi Resort, I realized it offers great value for money and its location is excellent
for enjoying diving.
If you're looking for an accessible accommodation
option in Menjangan, Mimpi Resort could be a fantastic
choice!
