One day, I heard whispers of a new sushi restaurant making waves in Gimpo Gurae-dong.
What really caught my attention was that people were actually waiting in line to get in!
My favorite sushi spots always have long queues, so visiting them often feels like a big commitment.
However, with Mikado Sushi Gimpo Gurae, even if there's a wait, it's not a big deal because
they use the Catchtable app!
This means you can remotely add your name to the waiting list, arrive at your leisure, and avoid standing around for too long. It's incredibly convenient.
The restaurant's interior, as you can see in the photos, is thoughtfully designed.
There are comfortable four-person tables perfect for families, as well as bar seating for those dining solo.
As expected from a popular spot, there's even an indoor waiting area.
Even though it's August 2026 and the weather is pleasant, it's still nice to wait inside comfortably rather than standing outside.
My mom and I opted for the bar seating, and I was amazed by the sheer variety of sushi!
With about 70 different types, there was so much to choose from, making the dining experience incredibly fun.
What's more impressive is that all the sushi is made with fresh ingredients sourced every morning.
Upon being seated, we were immediately served water and a warm bowl of miso soup, which was absolutely delicious!
At our seats, we found fresh wasabi and soy sauce, allowing us to prepare our dipping sauce just how we like it.
What truly impressed me about Mikado Sushi Gimpo Gurae is the incredible value: each plate of sushi is only ~$1!
Just ~$1 per plate?! You might be thinking, "Does that mean the sushi quality isn't great?"
But just look at the quality!
Despite the incredibly low price, the sushi quality is outstanding, and it tastes absolutely delicious!
I had no idea my mom loved sushi this much. She easily ate over 10 plates!
It made me so happy and proud to treat her to such a wonderful meal.
While most plates are ~$1, for a slight additional charge,
you can indulge in premium sushi like bluefin tuna belly for ~$3 a plate.
If you're visiting with children, you'll be glad to know that high chairs are available,
making it comfortable for little ones to dine. Plus, you'll find popular Pororo drinks on the conveyor belt,
which kids are sure to love!
