I was so busy carrying our almost 2-year-old up the seemingly endless steps that I barely had a chance to take photos! There are indeed many stairs, roughly 200 of them.

With little shade, you'll be climbing in direct sunlight. If you have knee issues or low stamina, taking that motorbike ride up might be a wise choice!

This is definitely not a place for strollers. For children up to around 1.5 years old, a baby carrier is absolutely essential.

After a sweaty climb, you'll be rewarded with the sight of Long Son Pagoda's famous white reclining Buddha statue.

The ascent typically takes about 10 minutes on foot.

3. The ~79-Foot Tall Buddha Statue

Whenever I visit a new country, I make it a point to see at least one famous temple or pagoda. In Nha Trang, the primary reason to visit Long Son Pagoda is undoubtedly its impressive ~79-foot tall Buddha statue.

While it's slightly smaller than the Lady Buddha in Da Nang, its presence is still incredibly commanding.

Around the great Buddha, you can light incense, and if you venture inside, you'll discover smaller reclining Buddha statues.

To me, it felt like a place that gently bent traditional notions of Buddhism. The LED lights behind the Buddha statue and the candles placed in front created a unique, almost modern atmosphere.

The monks we encountered inside also seemed quite laid-back, adding to the distinct and refreshing vibe of the pagoda.

Unlike Linh Ung Pagoda in Da Nang, the surrounding area here is quite densely forested, which means the panoramic views aren't as expansive.

4. Final Thoughts on Visiting Long Son Pagoda

Overall, while the pagoda complex itself is modest, the grand Buddha statue is truly a sight to behold, making it a worthwhile stop on your Nha Trang adventure.

Aside from the stroller limitation, it's a perfectly fine place to visit with young children, as long as you're prepared for the stairs.

It's ideally visited as part of a larger city tour, perhaps before check-in or as a check-out tour. I probably wouldn't make a dedicated trip just for the pagoda alone.
