Are you planning a trip to Kumamoto and finding yourself worried about hotel parking?
My husband and I recently rented a car after exploring Mount Aso, and as we made our way to the Lef Kumamoto By Vessel Hotel, parking was definitely our biggest concern.
Before our trip, I spent a lot of time thinking about this, but after experiencing it firsthand, the solution was much clearer than I expected! I'm excited to share our tips with you.
Lef Kumamoto Affiliated Parking Information
After a long day of adventuring around Mount Aso, arriving in Kumamoto city, we were exhausted. The first thing that came to mind was figuring out the parking situation.
Lef Kumamoto doesn't have its own parking lot, so guests need to use one of the nearby affiliated parking garages.
The hotel recommends three main affiliated parking options, and you can choose the best one based on your needs:
Karashima Park Underground Parking
2:00 PM to 12:00 PM the next day
~$8 per night
This is the spot we used. From the first basement level, you can take the elevator towards the Shinshigai Arcade, and you'll find Lef Kumamoto in no time.
Passurt 24 Karashima Park
2:00 PM to 12:00 PM the next day
~$8 per night
This is a popular above-ground alternative if the underground parking is full.
Park City 24h Shinshigai
3:00 PM to 11:00 AM the next day
~$11 per night
While it's conveniently close to the arcade, navigating the narrow streets can be a bit tricky.
Among these options, we decided on the Karashima Park Underground Parking because its location seemed the most convenient for our itinerary.
Why We Chose Karashima Park
When we checked into the hotel, we simply told the staff that we had used the Karashima Park Underground Parking, and they immediately provided us with a parking ticket.
This special parking ticket allows you to use the parking lot until 12:00 PM the next day for just ~$8. Considering it's right in the heart of the city, that's a pretty reasonable price!
Stepping out of the elevator, we were right in the Shinshigai Arcade. Lef Kumamoto was visible just above and to the right.
What's more, it's less than a 5-minute walk from the hotel, with a convenient elevator right in front of the Shinshigai Arcade, making getting to and from the hotel a breeze.
Utilizing Parking After Checkout
Even after checking out, we didn't immediately move our car. Instead, we visited Katsuretsutei, a highly-rated tonkatsu restaurant nearby.
When we finished our meal and asked for the bill, we were pleasantly surprised to find that Katsuretsutei also offered parking validation for Karashima Park Underground Parking!
Thanks to this, we were able to combine the parking ticket from the hotel with the one from the restaurant, making our post-checkout explorations incredibly convenient.
Effortless Payment, Even for First-Timers
Japanese parking payment machines can sometimes be a bit intimidating if you're not familiar with them, leading to some awkward moments.
The parking office is visible on the left!
At Karashima Park Parking, there's a dedicated office on the first basement level where friendly staff are ready to help. You don't have to struggle with the machine yourself; they'll assist you through the entire process.
This made settling our parking fee incredibly easy and stress-free, without any complicated steps.
People settling their payments inside the office
Personally, if you're deliberating over parking options for Lef Kumamoto, I believe Karashima Park Underground Parking is the most straightforward choice. It's not only close to the hotel, but the ability to get assistance from staff during the payment process is a huge relief for travelers like us.
It's also a great option if you have a lot of luggage or prefer to minimize walking. And if you're planning to hit up some of the city's best restaurants, it truly makes for a smart decision.
Now that your Lef Kumamoto parking worries are solved, it's time to take a closer look at the hotel itself.
I've put together an honest review of my stay, including the pros and cons I experienced firsthand, in the article below. It might be helpful to give it a quick read before you finalize your booking!
