Lai Seafood Nha Trang Review: Perfect for Large Families

Are you searching for a seafood restaurant in downtown Nha Trang that checks all the boxes for taste, hygiene, and ambiance?

Finding a spacious and comfortable dining spot can be a real challenge, especially if you are traveling with parents or organizing a large group of 10 or more people.

Today, I am sharing our experience at Lai Seafood Nha Trang, an excellent option for large multi-generational family trips.

While the food is more crowd-pleasing than gourmet, the incredibly spacious layout, clean environment, and unbelievably cheap beer prices made our family dinner a massive success.

Here is my honest review from our family vacation in February 2026.

Lai Seafood Nha Trang: Wait Times and Ambiance

After a busy day of sightseeing in downtown Nha Trang and a relaxing massage, we headed straight to Lai Seafood for dinner.

Located right in the heart of the city center, the restaurant is exceptionally easy to find and access.

Because we had a large group, we couldn't get seated immediately and had to wait for about 10 minutes.

While waiting, we checked out the first floor, which is lined with large tanks showcasing a wide variety of live, fresh seafood.

The tanks looked clean and well-maintained, giving us peace of mind about the freshness of our upcoming meal.

The restaurant spans multiple floors. The second floor was completely packed when we arrived, so we were guided up to the third floor.

Luckily, we had the entire third floor to ourselves, which felt like having a private VIP dining room where our family could chat and laugh freely.

Why We Ordered À La Carte Instead of the Famous Set Menu

Lai Seafood is highly famous for its lobster set menus, but we decided to opt for individual à la carte dishes instead.

The set menus typically include one complimentary beer per person. However, on this particular evening, most of our family members weren't in the mood for beer (a very rare occurrence for us!).

Because of this, ordering individual dishes tailored to everyone's specific cravings made much more sense and offered better value. It turned out to be an excellent decision!

Honest Review: What We Ordered at Lai Seafood

We split across two tables, and each table ordered their own selection of dishes.

At my table alone, we ordered about eight different items, and the quality of the seafood was consistently fresh across the board.

To be completely honest, it wasn't a mind-blowing culinary masterpiece, but rather a solid, crowd-pleasing meal. The flavors are balanced to suit international tourists, making it very safe and approachable.

The egg fried rice was a massive hit for both the kids and the older folks. It was so popular that we had to order a second plate!

The dishes didn't have any overwhelming local spices, making it a very safe option. Our absolute favorite of the night was the crispy coconut fried shrimp.

I'm usually not a big fan of strong coconut flavors in savory dishes, so I didn't expect much.

However, it was surprisingly delicious! The texture was incredibly crispy, and the subtle hint of coconut paired beautifully with the fresh shrimp.

The whole family loved it, so we ended up ordering another plate. If you visit Lai Seafood, the coconut fried shrimp is a must-try!

Another major highlight of the night was the unbelievably cheap price of alcohol.

A cold bottle of Saigon beer cost only about ~$0.32! This was significantly cheaper than what we paid at other restaurants for lunch.

If you love seafood paired with ice-cold beer, this place offers unbeatable value.

Is Lai Seafood Worth Visiting on a Nha Trang Family Trip?

Lai Seafood is less about a high-end gourmet dining experience and more about convenience, comfort, and hassle-free dining for families and large tour groups.

Having a spacious, clean, and private area on the third floor for our family of over 10 people was by far the best part of our visit.
