La Cantinaccia del Popolo
During my travels through Sorrento, Italy, I stumbled upon what would become my absolute favorite dining experience of the entire trip.
To this day, I still dream about their legendary spaghetti alle vongole.

While spending two nights in Sorrento, this rustic trattoria completely blew me away.
Honestly, when a place has over 6,000 Google reviews with a stellar 4.7-star rating, you know they are doing something incredibly right.
After a long day of exploring the Amalfi Coast and Positano, sitting down here for dinner was the ultimate reward. I cannot recommend it enough!
2. Craving Authentic Southern Italian Comfort Food?
The Vongole Pasta is an absolute must-order.

The menu is spread across three pages and is absolutely packed with options.
I usually like to plan my order before arriving at a restaurant, but looking at all these authentic choices, I was happily overwhelmed.
Ultimately, I decided to stick with classic Southern Italian regional specialties.

We started with a bottle of sparkling water and a unique local craft beer that is hard to find elsewhere.
The beer was incredibly refreshing and paired beautifully with our meal.
I didn't spot this specific label anywhere else on my travels, so I highly recommend giving it a try if you see it.

Just looking at these photos while writing this makes my mouth water all over again.
Spaghetti alle vongole (clam pasta) originated in the Campania region around Naples, so enjoying it here in Sorrento is as authentic as it gets. It is like ordering clam chowder in New England—it is a regional rite of passage!
And let me tell you...
This vongole pasta was hands down the best I have ever had in my life.
It is a absolute must-order. (18 EUR / approx. $20 USD)
On the right, we have the Fritto Misto—mixed fried seafood (20 EUR / approx. $22 USD). It was a match made in heaven with our cold craft beer.
The platter comes loaded with perfectly crispy shrimp, squid, and local anchovies.
We noticed almost all the local tables ordering this, and the portion size was incredibly generous!

One fun, quirky detail: they serve the pasta directly in a rustic aluminum frying pan.
It doesn't look like they actually cooked the pasta in this exact pan, but the presentation definitely added to the cozy, home-style trattoria charm.

We also ordered the stuffed zucchini flowers (Fiori di Zucca) (12 EUR / approx. $13 USD).
While this is a classic regional specialty, it was just average for us compared to the other dishes.
I'd say skip this one unless you're specifically curious to try it for the experience.

To top off an incredible meal, the staff brought us complimentary shots of Meloncello as a digestif.
I had tried Limoncello plenty of times before, but this was my very first time experiencing Meloncello.
Oh my goodness... I need everyone to try this at least once!
It tastes like a sweet, sun-ripened cantaloupe with a beautifully smooth, creamy finish. It was absolutely divine.

Our entire feast came out to just 60 EUR (approx. $65 USD).
Standard Italian restaurants usually add a 'coperto' (cover charge) per person, but surprisingly, they didn't charge us one here!
Between the exceptionally friendly staff, the mouthwatering food, and the very reasonable prices for Sorrento, this place is an absolute winner.
3. A True Local Favorite in Sorrento

I visited during the shoulder season in late March, yet the restaurant was packed to the brim with lively Italian locals (which made for a wonderfully energetic, buzzing atmosphere!).
If I ever find myself back in Sorrento, this will be my very first stop.

On a side note...
I fell so deeply in love with that Meloncello that I spent the rest of the trip snapping photos of bottles in local shops, trying to decide if I should buy one.
Because we had a long journey ahead, I reluctantly skipped it—and I still regret not bringing a bottle home with me!

This restaurant does not accept advance reservations. Additionally, it is closed every Monday and Wednesday, so please check their operating days before visiting.
The Vongole Pasta is 18 euros, and the Mixed Fried Seafood, which includes shrimp, squid, and anchovies, is 20 euros. For reference, the fried zucchini flowers priced at 12 euros were mentioned as a dish not to recommend.
Unlike typical restaurants in Italy, this restaurant does not charge a per-person cover charge (coperto). After the meal, an orange-colored, melon-flavored meloncello is served as a digestif.
