Although it was our first time visiting, we found it surprisingly easy to locate.
We made our reservations through Klook beforehand. They offer options for children's kimonos and even family packages, so be sure to check the available dates and desired options that fit your travel plans.
How much did the Kyoto kids' kimono rental cost?
I booked two children's kimonos on Klook for October 2nd at 12:00 PM.

The total payment was ~$51! This works out to approximately ~$26 per child.
My older daughter chose a paid hairstyle, which we paid for separately on-site. I believe it was an additional 1,500 JPY!
Keep in mind that prices can vary depending on your booking date and chosen options, so it's always a good idea to compare.
How many types of kimonos are available for kids?
When we stepped into the shop, I was genuinely surprised by the sheer number of kimono options! With such a wide variety of colors and patterns, my daughters had a tough time choosing.
They kept changing their minds, picking one, then another, which took a bit of time, but it was all part of the fun!

The staff, however, were incredibly kind and patient. Even with my daughters' indecisiveness, they helped them try on different options and made sure they found exactly what they wanted.
As a parent navigating this experience with two kids, their friendliness was truly appreciated.
Are the free kimono hairstyles pretty enough?
After choosing their kimonos, it was time for hairstyles! When we visited, a single bun or two buns on either side were available for free.
Other hairstyles came with an additional charge. My younger daughter went with the two-bun style, which was free, and it looked absolutely adorable on her!

My older daughter had a specific hairstyle in mind, so we opted for the paid styling. Once it was done, it definitely looked stunning!

While the free options are certainly charming, you can choose based on your child's preference. Remember to check the booking details as hair options and additional costs can vary.
What was it like taking photos in Kyoto wearing kimonos?
Strolling through the streets of Kyoto in kimonos created a completely different atmosphere than usual.
The traditional Japanese streetscapes blended perfectly with their kimonos, resulting in some truly beautiful photos.

With my two daughters walking side-by-side in their kimonos, I was constantly busy snapping pictures!
It wasn't just about renting clothes; it was a meaningful opportunity for the girls to directly experience Japanese traditional culture.

Kids' Kimono Rental: Don't forget to bring sneakers!
Here's a tip from our direct experience!
While the flip-flop-style sandals (zori) rented with the kimono look lovely in photos, they can be uncomfortable for extended walking. You tend to walk a surprising amount in Kyoto!

So, we carried the rental sandals and let our girls wear their usual sneakers. We would only switch to the zori at picturesque spots for photos, and then change back into their sneakers once we were done.
If you're traveling with children, I highly recommend this method. Make sure to bring the sneakers you wore to the rental shop with you when you head out!

Would I recommend the Kyoto kids' kimono experience?
This Kyoto trip truly created a unique and special memory for my children.
They got to choose their own kimonos, have their hair styled, and capture beautiful photos on the charming streets of Kyoto.

Most importantly, the friendly staff made the entire experience enjoyable for the kids.
If you're looking for a unique activity to do with your children in Kyoto, a kimono rental is definitely a wonderful option.

Check Klook for children's options and available dates, and plan your trip accordingly!
