Kyoto Day Bus Tour: Yeohaeng Han Geureut
Your Guide to a Perfect Kyoto Day Trip
Planning a trip to Osaka for three days or more?
You'll likely find yourself wondering if you should squeeze in a visit to Kyoto too!
While Osaka offers plenty to see and is super convenient,
it definitely has a vibrant city vibe. Kyoto, on the other hand, boasts an atmosphere that's
unmistakably traditional Japanese,
with its stunning temples and picturesque street views.

If a day trip to Kyoto is on your agenda,
I highly recommend opting for a bus tour over public transportation.
Kyoto is brimming with incredible sights,
but navigating it via public transport can be quite challenging –
and let's not forget the ever-increasing fares!

Kyoto Bus Tour

The tour I went with was the Yeohaeng Han Geureut tour.
(Paid for by me!)
We met near Osaka's Nipponbashi Station at 8:40 AM and headed off as a group by bus.
While it's a tour, you're not constantly moving as a big group.
You actually get to explore each location freely.
Our guide provided most of the explanations for the tourist spots while we were on the bus.

With approximately three hours to explore Arashiyama,
our guide thoughtfully provided a map with recommended routes and even restaurant suggestions,
all easy to grasp at a glance!
It was incredibly convenient to scan a QR code and instantly access Google Maps.

Our amazing guide kept us totally updated with all the times and locations via messages,
from before we even set off until midway through the tour.
It was super convenient not having to track anything myself!
Our Tour Itinerary

Our journey kicked off in Arashiyama, then took us through
Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion), Fushimi Inari-taisha (Fox Shrine), and Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
We enjoyed lunch back in Arashiyama.
Since I was staying overnight in Kyoto, I opted to get off at Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
Yeohaeng Han Geureut Review

Our guide typically offers a DSLR photo session at Togetsukyo Bridge,
but we were so eager for lunch that we rushed straight to a restaurant!
Most of Kyoto's famous eateries have notoriously long queues,
so if you want to snag a table, I highly recommend getting in line
right after you arrive in Arashiyama!

Our guide's recommendation: Yoshimura Soba!
The second floor boasts a fantastic view of Togetsukyo Bridge, but it's incredibly popular.
Sadly, I was assigned a seat on the first floor. T_T

Tenryuji Temple has such a beautiful garden,
so you absolutely must stop by!

You can actually see inside the temple from the outside,
so you don't necessarily have to pay for admission to appreciate it.

Arashiyama's most famous bamboo grove!
Luckily, when I visited, it wasn't overly crowded.

After seeing the Instagram-worthy train tracks, I stopped by a cafe for some dango,
and then moved on after nearly three hours!

Next, I visited Kinkakuji Temple with an admission ticket shaped like a good luck charm!
Here, our guide took photos for us with a DSLR camera,
and then we had some free time.

Kinkakuji Temple, entirely covered in gold,
was even more stunning in person.
I even carefully checked the ground for any fallen gold! Lol.

Next up was the famous Fox Shrine, a renowned photo spot.
The vibrant red torii gates at the entrance
felt just like something out of an anime,
giving off a mysterious and dreamlike vibe.

Don't forget to try your hand at drawing an omikuji (fortune slip)!
I got a 'Great Great Blessing,' which put me in a fantastic mood for the rest of the trip.

Our final stop was Kiyomizu-dera Temple!
Isn't the admission ticket absolutely gorgeous?

I visited this past spring,
but Kiyomizu-dera is truly at its most beautiful in the autumn.
The vibrant red of Kiyomizu-dera as the sun sets is utterly captivating...

Exploring Ninen-zaka and Sannen-zaka marks the end of the tour!
There are plenty of places to buy souvenirs and lots of delicious food to try.
The only downside is that it can get very crowded,
but in the evening, there are fewer people and the scenery is absolutely stunning,
so I highly recommend staying overnight in Kyoto after getting off at Kiyomizu-dera.

Even though most of the tour is free time, during our travels,
our guide made the explanations incredibly engaging,
making this Kyoto bus tour highly satisfying!
If you're planning a trip during the hot summer or traveling with your parents,
I highly recommend the 'Yeohaeng Han Geureut' Kyoto Bus Tour!
