Kyoto Bus Tour Recommendations: A Comparison

Struggling to decide which Kyoto bus tour to book?
Reviews are all positive, but prices and itineraries vary widely...!
So, I personally experienced two of Kyoto's leading bus tour companies.
Previously with Yeohaenghan Geurut, and this time with Indigo Travel.
Even though they're both Kyoto bus tours, the density of the day felt completely different.

🚨 Today's Travel Log
This is a genuine review of Kyoto bus tours, written after my personal experiences. (As of October 2026)
Kyoto bus tours are day trips that depart from Osaka and cover Kyoto's major attractions by bus in a single day.
I'll give you an honest comparison of the two leading companies: Indigo Travel and Yeohaenghan Geurut.
⭐️ Today's Travel Difficulty ★☆☆
The bus takes you everywhere, so first-time visitors to Kyoto have nothing to worry about.

1. Kyoto Bus Tour Comparison: Indigo Travel vs. Yeohaenghan Geurut

Category | Indigo Travel | Yeohaenghan Geurut |
Klook Price | ~$43 (with coupon) | ~$29 (Special Offer Now) |
Tour Duration | Departs 08:10, Arrives approx. 19:00 | Departs 08:30, Arrives approx. 19:00 |
Main Highlight | Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion) | Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) |
Explanation Method | On-site explanations via receiver | Explanations inside the bus |
Umeda Drop-off | Not Available | Available |
Both tours fundamentally include DSLR photo shoots.
Ultimately, the main point of consideration is the price difference.

Currently, Yeohaenghan Geurut has a special offer, making a difference of ~$13 per person.
Based on regular prices, the difference is less than ~$8.

I felt this difference reflected the value of on-site explanations via receiver at each attraction, and the unhurried, relaxed time spent there.
Dividing it by the 11-hour tour, it's about ~$1 per hour.
If you're traveling with parents, or if it's your first time in Kyoto, this difference felt well worth paying.
Now, let's dive into a detailed explanation of both tours!
2. Indigo Travel Kyoto Bus Tour Review

✅ Key Difference: Indigo Travel visits Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion).
✔️ Depart 20 Minutes Earlier for More Relaxed Time at Each Spot
There are so many companies offering Kyoto bus tours.

Among them, Indigo Travel departs at 08:10, which is 20 minutes earlier than Yeohaenghan Geurut.
This meant we had ample time to spend at each attraction.
Even after listening to explanations, looking around, and taking photos, I never felt rushed.

✔️ Route Change to Avoid Crowds, Thanks to Which We Saw Arashiyama in the Evening
It's currently autumn school trip season, so Kyoto was bustling with tourists.
So, this time,
✅ Route: Fushimi Inari Shrine → Kiyomizu-dera Temple (Lunch) → Ginkaku-ji Temple → Arashiyama.

Most bus tours have lunch in Arashiyama, but,
This time, having lunch amidst Kiyomizu-dera, Sannenzaka, and Ninenzaka,
it was a truly special experience.

For a great restaurant near Kiyomizu-dera, I visited a tuna kaisendon place from our guide's recommended list, and I'll tell you all about it later.
Arashiyama is usually so crowded that it's hard to even walk around.
But we were able to leisurely enjoy Ginkaku-ji without the usual tour groups, and Arashiyama as the sun began to set.

While Arashiyama is lovely during the day, evening Arashiyama, with the crowds dispersed, offers a quiet and atmospheric charm that truly lets you soak in the Kyoto vibe.

✔️ Rest on the bus, explanations via receiver at the site
This is Indigo Travel's biggest advantage.
At some tourist spots, the guide even walks with you, providing explanations.

They provide receivers, so even if you're a bit separated, you can hear all the explanations through your earphones.
Hearing the explanations while seeing the sights right in front of you made them much more memorable, and it allowed me to see the same places from a fresh perspective.
Since the explanations are given on-site, you can really relax during travel, making it comfortable and enriching if you're with your parents.

In fact, since it's such an informative tour, I noticed that even seniors aged 60 and above come alone or with a friend!!
😢 The only downside is that you can't get off at Umeda...!
I got off in Kyoto and enjoyed more of the city before heading back.
If you're planning to return to Namba anyway, it's no problem at all.

🚨 Here's a travel tip!

3. Travel Han Geurut Kyoto Bus Tour Review

The Travel Han Geurut Kyoto Bus Tour offers explanations on the bus, followed by free exploration at each site.
With an 08:30 departure, your morning is a bit more relaxed,
and if you definitely want to see Kinkaku-ji, this is the tour for you.

✅ Course: Namba Dotonbori pickup → Arashiyama (lunch) → Kinkaku-ji → Fushimi Inari → Kiyomizu-dera → Umeda drop-off → Namba drop-off

As it's the only Kyoto bus tour among the providers that allows drop-off at Umeda,
if you plan to return to Umeda after the tour, Travel Han Geurut will be an excellent choice.

The regular price is around ~$37, but it's currently on an unprecedented discount for ~$29, so check the price before the discount period ends.
If you have 2 or more people, the Klook discount codes I mentioned above are also applicable to this Travel Han Geurut tour!
