Korean Air Bali Flight Review: In-Flight Meals & Price

I just wrapped up my second trip to Bali! Luckily, I managed to book my flights right before the fuel surcharges spiked, securing a direct round-trip ticket on Korean Air in the ~$450 range. Here is my honest review of the experience.

Even now, when I search across different booking platforms, the prices fluctuate constantly. I will leave the link to the platform where I found the best deal at the bottom of this post.

With a Saturday afternoon departure at 4:10 PM, I had plenty of time to arrive at Incheon Airport, do some duty-free shopping, grab a coffee, and board stress-free.

Most Korean Air flights heading to Bali depart around 4:00 PM or 6:00 PM, which is perfect because you do not have to rush to the airport early in the morning.

For a 7-hour flight, an iPad loaded with pre-downloaded shows is an absolute lifesaver.

I saved up a few episodes of my favorite series and watched them back-to-back. Downloading a variety of light-hearted entertainment is my go-to strategy for long flights.

Korean Air In-Flight Meal Experience

About 2 hours after takeoff, the first meal service begins. I went with the classic, foolproof option: Korean Air's signature Bibimbap.

You can't have Bibimbap without the sesame oil and gochujang (red pepper paste). I also asked for a glass of white wine to pair with it. I usually go for beer, but decided on wine this time to avoid feeling too bloated.

After finishing the meal, they offer hot coffee or tea. As a coffee lover, I couldn't pass it up!

Fully satisfied, I settled in to watch some favorite YouTube travel vlogs.

Since it was an evening flight, the cabin lights were dimmed so passengers could sleep. I tried my best to stay awake so I could sleep properly once we reached our hotel in Bali.

Just when you start to digest your meal, they bring out snacks! They served Cledor ice cream, which is incredibly rich and delicious—definitely don't skip this.

Think the food service is done? Not quite! They offer a late-night snack of either warm pocket pizza or a banana. I went with the pizza since I had been eating plenty of bananas on my pre-trip diet.

Inbound Flight: Bali to Seoul Meal

The return flight from Bali to Seoul is a red-eye, departing after midnight and landing in the morning. Because of this, breakfast is served about 2 hours before landing. Unlike the outbound flight, there are no mid-flight snacks, just a light breakfast.

I chose the omelet, and it was light, fluffy, and tasted great for an early morning meal.

💡 Quick Tip!

Because the flight from Seoul to Bali is packed with food (one full meal + two rounds of snacks), you really do not need to fill up at the airport lounge beforehand. We kept our pre-flight meal very light.

After a smooth 7-hour direct flight, we finally touched down in Bali! On my previous trip, I paid extra to secure exit row seats. However, booking only 3 months in advance this time meant all exit row seats were already sold out.

Since the flight to Bali is relatively long, I highly recommend paying the extra fee to book an exit row seat if they are available.

Korean Air Bali Ticket Price Comparison

On my previous trip, I booked 6 months in advance for a May departure. The base ticket was in the ~$380 range, and with the exit row seat upgrade, it came out to about ~$510 per person.

This year, booking 3 months in advance for a June trip, I paid around ~$450 for standard economy.

Right before our departure date, I checked the ticket prices out of curiosity, and the exact same flights had surged to over ~$900—nearly double what I paid!

If you are even thinking about a trip to Bali, my biggest advice is to lock in your flights as early as possible.
