Kenran Resort Ubud Review: Embrace Bali's Jungle Paradise

Your Ultimate Bali Ubud Jungle Stay

If you’ve followed my travel posts, you'll know my usual accommodation style. I don't typically prioritize resorts. As a solo traveler, I often spend my days exploring and only return to my hotel late at night, essentially just using it for sleep. This usually means I opt for budget-friendly city stays.

However, there are always exceptions to the rule when it comes to resort stays.

While I rarely choose a resort for its sheer luxury or extensive facilities (maybe a Shangri-La in Mactan, Cebu, if anything), my main reason for picking a resort, especially in Indonesia, is for a unique experience: a jungle stay. And when that's the goal, I'm willing to overlook my usual preference for city-center convenience.

That's exactly why I chose this particular Ubud accommodation in Bali.

My only regret was staying just one night. I promised myself I'd book at least two nights next time. (Though, knowing my personality, I might still get restless and want to head back to the city after two nights, haha!)

Ubud Pool Villas in Bali

Each villa comes with its own private pool, and there's also a main pool. Honestly, with a private pool, I rarely find myself using the main one.

This is the upper level of the main area (there's also a lower level). I only snapped a quick photo during dinner and didn't actually go in.

The resort boasts two restaurants: a general one and an Indian restaurant. Makes you wonder if the owner is Indian!

Given how amazing the private villa and rooms were, I didn't really use many other facilities. However, I must tell you, the spa here is absolutely incredible!

Ubud Resort SPA Experience

I had a treatment on the first day, and then woke up early the next morning to squeeze in another session before checkout. Yes, I had two treatments during my one-night stay!

The experience begins with a truly luxurious foot bath. It's not just a quick dip; they use crystal sea salt and essential oils, followed by a thorough salt scrub. What's more, they show you the actual ingredients they're using and kindly explain their benefits.

Stepping through a door that reminds me of a Hobbit house from Lord of the Rings,

You'll find a well-appointed sauna facility and more. But I'm getting ahead of myself, let's get back to the rooms!

The Rooms

I opted for the private pool villa, which featured its own swimming pool, an outdoor kitchen (?), and even an outdoor restroom.

Inside, there's another spacious bathroom with a bathtub, offering plenty of room to relax.

There's so much to love about this place that it's hard to cover it all in one post. This Bali Ubud accommodation truly comes highly recommended! I'll probably need to write another post to share everything I missed.

Breakfast Delights

Breakfast is a delightful combination of a small buffet and an à la carte selection, which I really appreciate. Since I don't eat a huge breakfast, I prefer the elegance of a single, well-prepared dish.

Additional Programs & Activities

The resort also offers yoga programs and trekking courses. Unfortunately, my one-night stay didn't leave me enough time to participate. If you're planning a longer visit, taking part in these activities would definitely make for a more enriching and fulfilling experience!

Perhaps it's because of the long flight, but Bali always feels like a destination I wish I could stay in longer, holding a special place in my heart. The Kenran Resort in Ubud was a rare find where I happily stayed put, instead of my usual wanderlust.
