Kelseys Roadhouse Review: Authentic Canadian Burgers on the Quebec Route
Craving a genuine taste of Canada? On a Quebec road trip, we stumbled upon Kelseys Roadhouse, a local favorite for juicy, handcrafted burgers and classic comfort food.

During a recent Canadian adventure, I embarked on a multi-day tour heading towards Quebec. As we journeyed by car, our tour package included a stop at a genuine local favorite: Kelseys Roadhouse.

Our guide, a self-proclaimed food connoisseur, highly recommended Kelseys for lunch, assuring us it was the best burger joint along our route to Quebec. It was a delightful surprise included in our tour, and definitely lived up to the hype!

This isn't a spot you'll find swarming with tourists; it's a true local haunt, tucked away right off the highway. The surrounding area was peaceful but felt complete, much like a charming town straight out of an American or Canadian TV drama.

Upon entering Kelseys, we waited patiently at the front door for a server to seat us, which is standard practice in Canadian restaurants. Unlike some places where you might seat yourself, here, you're always greeted and shown to your table.

Even though it was a slightly late lunch, the relaxed pace of the locals enjoying their meals was noticeable. It was refreshing to see everyone taking their time, savoring the moment, a wonderful contrast to the often fast-paced dining experiences elsewhere.

After being seated at this authentic Canadian eatery, our guide promptly placed our orders, choosing from three dishes he had previously recommended. Kelseys offers a wide array of options, from various beverages and alcoholic drinks to pancakes, and they even seemed to have a dedicated lunch menu.

The interior of Kelseys Roadhouse felt like something out of a movie set. The wooden decor was clean and inviting, creating a distinctly international atmosphere. Being in a spot frequented solely by locals made the experience even more memorable and authentic. Plus, it looked like they even had dedicated seating for solo diners, which is always a thoughtful touch!

Following our Quebec tour guide's strong recommendation, I opted for the handcrafted burger. And let me tell you, it was a fantastic choice! Canada is renowned for its potato production, and these fries were perfectly plump and delicious, a true testament to the country's quality produce.

The burger patty was incredibly thick, generously topped with fresh vegetables and ample cheese. It was so substantial, I actually needed a knife to cut into it! This Canadian handcrafted burger was genuinely delicious and satisfying.

Another member of our group ordered the steak with rice. While it was certainly enjoyable, they noted it wasn't quite on par with the steaks they'd had in Australia. Regardless of the main dish, it seemed like fries were a standard accompaniment to almost every order, further highlighting Canada's love for its potatoes!

Finally, our third dish at Kelseys Roadhouse was the classic Fish & Chips! This dish was surprisingly flavorful and satisfying, with a pleasant crispiness that wasn't overly greasy. Kelseys Roadhouse seems to be a well-established chain, and overall, the food quality across the board was impressively good.

Our brief stop at Kelseys Roadhouse on the way to Quebec turned out to be a fantastic experience. It was a genuine local eatery, not crowded with tourists, giving us an authentic taste of Canadian life. Huge thanks to our guide for leading us to this hidden gem!
If you're traveling through Canada and find yourself near a Kelseys Roadhouse, especially if you're looking for a local spot with great food, I highly recommend stopping by. You won't be disappointed!
